Implementing IPB Goes To Field, IPB University Vocational School Students Provide MSME Product Re-Branding Training
IPB University Vocational School students who participated in the IPB Goes To Field program helped increase the marketing of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (UMKM) products. Consisted of Communication students who were divided into 30 groups which will help MSMEs in the IPB University Campus Circle area.
The IGTF 24 team conducted a direct assessment to the IPB Dramaga Campus Circle area, to be precise in Bubulak. This first assessment was carried out for a site survey as well as to see the condition of the product and discuss with partners about any difficulties in improving product marketing and branding. The IGTF 24 group had the opportunity to help DP Segar Sari MSME which produces syrup and candied nutmeg. This DP Segar Sari is located in Batuhulung RT 03/06 Bubulak, West Bogor District, Bogor City, West Java.
Madsai as the owner of MSME said that usually within one month they can produce around 300 bottles. However, during the COVID-19 pandemic, sales decreased to around 50 bottles per month.
"Before the pandemic, when participating in events at certain places, nutmeg syrup drinks were always in demand by consumers. My products were selling well because our products are without preservatives and are still rarely marketed,” said Madsai.
He is also happy to offer teenagers to become resellers who want to have their own income. However, he has problems in the marketing process which so far cannot be shipped out of town and his products do not yet have halal certification.
Based on these problems, the IGTF 24 Team provided good packaging training. This team also created an e-commerce account as a medium for selling MSME products. (*) (IAAS/PEH)
