Dosen Mengabdi IPB University Provide Training in Institutional Strengthening of Micro-Enterprises
Problems often faced by micro-business groups include weak capital ownership and access to financing, weak market access and low adoption of technology in product development. Market issues are the most important problem faced by micro-businesses, especially in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic situation which led to a considerable decrease in sales turnover.
This situation must certainly be sought a solution from the problem, so that micro-entrepreneurs can survive with various limitations.
Other problems were revealed during the activities of Lecturers serving IPB University with speakers Muh Faturokhman, SPt, MSi, lecturers of IPB University from the Agribusiness Management Study Program of Vocational School with micro businesses held in Neglasari Village Dramaga District Bogor Regency, (11/9).
Micro-entrepreneurs said that although loans are obtained with ease of financing from cooperatives, but when there are additional orders then additional financing is needed that must be addressed quickly.
"To solve the problems faced by micro-entrepreneurs, one of them is the need for institutional strengthening. Institutional strengthening in the form of the formation of micro-business groups that are able to bridge the problems faced by members," said Muh Faturokhman, SPt, MSi.
According to him, the benefits obtained by microbusiness groups, among others, there is more systematic and organized management of all problems faced by members, so that it will be easier to map problems and solutions that must be done. In addition, market problems will be easier to overcome because there is a division of marketing that concentrates on expanding the market network, so it will make marketing easier.
"By uniting in an institution, there will be a strong bargaining position towards the market and suppliers because all the process of purchasing inputs and sales of production output is carried out jointly under the enterprise. With the company, it will facilitate the facilitation and empowerment process that will be carried out by the government, universities and non-governmental organizations (NGOs). And there will be a sense of togetherness and a sense of mutual help between members because it is tied up in the same institutionality. So if a member faces a problem then it can be helped by the other members. As part of the strengthening of business institutions, then all that needs to be done is to expand the network so that related stakeholders can strengthen the business institutions," he said.
In this case, he added, it is very important the role of the Cooperative and MSME Office and the Bogor District Agriculture and Forestry Office to conduct construction, counseling and program facilities in efforts to empower micro-enterprises. In addition, the role of IPB University is also expected to help businesses especially in the adoption of product development technology. Meanwhile, the role of the financing sector (cooperatives, banks and others) must be increased in order for access to capital to be open to businesses. And the role of asososiasi and NGOs is necessary in the empowerment process, especially helping micro-entrepreneurs to access the wider market. (iaas/Nas)
