IPB University Places 1st in Indonesia’s Higher Education Clustering 2020
This year, IPB University has attained a grand achievement. Based on the university evaluation of Higher Education Clustering done by the Indonesian Ministry of Education and Culture 2020, IPB University places first, followed by the University of Indonesia, Gadjah Mada University, Airlangga University, and Bandung Institute of Technology, respectively. This year, the Ministry of Education and Culture has evaluated 2,136 higher education institutions in Indonesia for the Higher Education Clustering. Regarding this achievement, the Rector of IPB University, Prof Arif Satria, claims that the achievement was the result of all of IPB University’s civitas academia who are always unified and sincere in advancing IPB University. Of course, this achievement is also the result of hard work from the previous board members of the university who has laid a strong foundation to the betterment of IPB University.
The purpose of the higher education clustering is to formulate a quality characterization of higher education institutions documented in the Higher Education Database (PD Dikti) after clustering the institutions based on certain characteristics for the interest of higher education development. The result of this clustering will be used to build a foundation for both the Ministry and higher education institutions to constantly improve in performance and organization. The source of data used to arrange the clusters comes from PD Dikti, evaluations from Directorate General of Higher Education’s working unit, structured data collected by working groups which are highly relevant to the Clustering of Higher Education Institutions, and established external data which represents the quality of Higher Education Institutions (accreditation data, research performance, innovation, community service data, and research publications indexed by Scopus). The indicators of Higher Education Clustering 2020 are divided into fours, which are Input, Process, Output, and Outcome. “Input” includes the percentage of lecturers holding a doctoral degree, percentage of lecturers holding the position of Principal Lecturer and Professor, the ratio of student to lecturer, the number of international students, and the number of lecturers working as practitioners in the industry. While “Process” includes the institution and study program accreditations of the National Accreditation Agency for Higher Education (BAN-PT), online learning, higher education institution partnership, completion of PD Dikti report, the number of study programs with partnerships to the stakeholders of business and industry, NGOs or institutions named among QS Top 100 World Class University, study programs with independent learning programs and the number of students participating in independent learning programs. “Output” includes the number of indexed scientific articles per lecturer, research performance, student performance and the number of internationally accredited study programs. While for “Outcome”, the evaluated indicators are innovation performance, the percentage of graduates who were employed within six months of graduation, the number of citations per lecturer, the number of patents per lecturer, and community service performance. IPB University sees this aforesaid achievement as a source of encouragement for all of IPB academia to contribute with all of our might for the nation.
