Rector of IPB University Discusses Post Pandemic Campus Activities

Rector of IPB University, Prof. Dr. Arif Satria considers that growth mindset is one of the main capital for the community to immediately adapt to the new normal after the COVID-19 pandemic and come down from the crisis. One of the main focuses for those affected by the pandemic is the world of education. This was revealed in the IDN Times Webinar themed Life After Pandemic COVID-19, (12/06).

The world continues to grow and humans are required to continue to adapt, but with the COVID-19 pandemic, humans are required to immediately adapt to this new situation, especially in the education and lecture processes. The more flexible era, during this pandemic, both students and lecturers are required to carry out the lecture process online. Prof. Arif Satria said that online lectures were not ideal, moreover there was a curriculum that required students to do practical work. However, decisions must be made as per government policy, so lectures at IPB University must also be done online in the period August to December 2020.

In response to this, IPB University has conducted training related to educational material through the internet media for 50 percent of the number of lecturers during 2015-2019 and training is currently encouraged to adjust lectures during and post pandemic. Academics are required to innovate so that learning outcomes can be achieved and become an inspiration for the public.

"Those who can adapt to uncertainty are learners. Well, that uncertainty for students is a challenge," he said.

Innovation in the form of full work in the future can also be used as a leap and a form of future practice, a form that does not yet exist, is expected to be an inspiration for the wider community.

Students are also encouraged to become fast-learners so that learning outcomes will be achieved, but the results of evaluations for online lecture practice are said to be successful only under certain circumstances. It is suitable for students with high enthusiasm, fluent interaction, proportional assignments and materials are well available.

Complaints coming from students besides the ineffectiveness of online lectures is the payment of tuition fees (UKT) for students with economies affected by the pandemic, the Rector of IPB University said that the campus would provide case by case assistance. (IAAS/SAR)
