Discussing "Kampus Merdeka", Eight Vice Chancellors of PTNBH Gathered at IPB University
The Vice Chancellor for Academic and Student Affairs from various Legal Entity Universities (PTN BH) gathered at IPB University, Dramaga Bogor (20/2). They are came from IPB University, Bandung Institute of Technology, Padjadjaran University, Indonesian University of Education, Gadjah Mada University, Diponegoro University, Surabaya Institute of Technology and Hasanudin University. The meeting was discussed the implementation of "Merdeka Belajar" and "Kampus Merdeka".
This meeting aims to synchronize the perceptions on the Ministry of Education and Culture policy in regard to "Merdeka Belajar" and "Kampus Merdeka". In addition, the meeting was used to build robust collaboration and synergy between PTNBH and other PTNBH, as well as with other tertiary institutions.
In his remarks, Rector of IPB University, Prof. Dr. Arif Satria discussed the importance of the universities readiness in facing a highly rapid disruption era in various fields. Higher education, especially PTNBH must have a high flexibility in addressing the upcoming disruption challenges .
"Higher education must prepare graduates who are tough and agile in facing a rapid changes that occurs presently and in the near far future. "Merdeka Belajar" should be seen as a chance to provide opportunities for students to face a reality in society, industry and other fields outside of campus. Students can train their skills among others in communication, leadership, collaboration and emerging complex problem solving. "Merdeka Belajar also needs to be seen as a directed independence and still following the existing guidance of academic rules and ethics," he said.
On this constellation Dr. Drajat Martianto, Vice Chancellor for Academic and Student Affairs of IPB University, said that this meeting successfully resulting ten agreements. That is to say, each PTN will allocate quotas of course participants in each PTNBH to be taken by other PTNBH students or non-PTNBH students. Subjects that can be taken are listed in a set of learning agreements as well as freelance courses (choices that serve to enrich knowledge, expertise or experience carrying out joint field practice).
"It was also agreed to broaden the scope of participants from PTNBH or other non-PTNBH through a special scheme over the year (short semester), as well as developing a capstone program for student final research collaboration across cross-college study programs. In developing learning agreements and other collaborations, PTNBH encourages allied study program associations to be more active in developing collaboration in facilitating "Merdeka Belajar" policies, "he said.
In response to the increasing number of State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs) offers of certified fellowships programs, the meeting also agreed to propose an integrated academic activities (lextures and final assignments) with certified fellowship programs from SOEs through the Indonesian Human Capital Forum (FHCI). This sheme aims to proliferate the benefit of this program,so that more and more universities students are experiencing the atmosphere of this program.
"The Merdeka Belajar" Program needs to be supported by the' Dosen Merdeka" program which makes it easier to exchange lecturers between PTNBH, providing a new academic environment for lecturers and to oversee the student exchanges. For affecacy of "Merdeka Belajar" program, "Kampus Merdeka" needs to be supported by a measurable, comprehensive, holistic and integrated ministry policy from the implications of the "Merdeka Belajar" or "Kampus Merdeka" policy including its budgeting, "he added.
