Ambassador of India to Indonesia Visit during Indian Forest Service Training with IPB University

Prof. Dr. Arif Satria, Rector of IPB University, accompanied by Dean of Forestry Faculty - Dr. Rinekso Soekmadi, and Vice Rector of Partnership and System Information - Prof. Dr. Dodik Nurrochmat, welcomed India’s Ambassador for Indonesia - H.E. Pradeep Kumar Rawat, to IPB University on Wednesday (29/1) afternoon.

This visit of honor is intended to increase partnerships of India’s institutions with IPB University. Several prioritized areas of partnership are research, publication, along with student and lecturer mobility in academic activities. IPB University’s Vice Dean of Academic and Student Affairs of the Faculty of Forestry - Dr. Lailan Syaufina, the Vice Dean of Resource and Partnership of the Faculty of Forestry – Dr. Naresworo Nugroho, and Deputy Director for International Program Services – Dr. Sintho Wahyuning Ardie were also present in the discussion which was held in the Rector’s Office. India’s ambassador for Indonesia and IPB University’s rector agree in the importance of an increased partnership between India and Indonesia.

The Counselor for Economy & Commerce – Mr. V. Narayanan and the Marketing Executive – Ms. Helda Edwina from the Embassy of India, were also present in the visit to attend the opening of Professional Skill Upgradation Course (PSUC) for Indian Forest Service (IFS) Officers 2020. A total of 24 staffs from India’s Ministry of Forestry had participated in the event. This program was a joined event of IPB University’s Faculty of Forestry and BioAcademy Finland which has now entered its second year of collaboration. The eight-day course is a capacity building program for IFS officers, which was also aimed to strengthen Indonesia and India’s partnership in the field of Forestry. Participants of the training had also visited areas of teak woods in Banyuwangi and Bali’s National Park.
