Alumni of IPB University Distributed 1,900 Aid Packages to Jabodetabek Flood Victims

IPB University Alumni Association or Himpunan Alumni (HA), through its autonomous body, Aksi Relawan Mandiri or ARM, distributed 1,900 aid packages for Jabodetabek flood victims, (5/1). The assistance was departed from Baranangsiang Alumni Building in Bogor, along with 30 ARM volunteers who joined IPB University Alumni Solidarity Team for Flood Victims (SAIBAN).
This assistance is a contribution from IPB University alumni throughout Indonesia that is channeled through ARM HA-IPB University. ARM volunteers targeted several locations which were said to be the worst affected by flooding, including Villa Nusa Indah, Pondok Gede Permai Jatiasih, Jatiluhur, Villa Jatirasa, Kemang IFI, and the Jatibening Naval Complex.
In addition to package assistance, ARM HA-IPB University volunteers also did voluntary work managing residential areas, schools, and worship places submerged in mud. On the same day, as part of psychosocial activities, ARM volunteers held a play session to entertain 200 children in Bekasi affected by flooding. Activities carried out at Baitul Mukmin Jatirasa Mosque through games, singing, dancing, and drawing. They also receive gift parcels as well as school supplies.
This activity is one of Aksi Relawan Mandiri missions as an Autonomous Institution of Alumni Association of IPB University which facilitates alumni's and community's concerns to help overcome natural disasters and disasters, said Ir Fathan Kamil, Chair of HA-IPB University. Fathan helped the commitment of the Alumni Association of IPB University to assist the government and the community in preparedness programs and activities as well as saving disaster safety.
Secretary-General of ARM HA-IPB University, Agus Rusli, revealed that the initial assistance from IPB University alumni was ready-to-eat food and beverage packages, toiletries, special packages for the needs of women, children and the elderly.
"In total 1,900 packages which contain 600 families and 200 children. Selected aid was also mobilized by the Management Board of the Regional University of HA-IPB Banten to be distributed to victims of floods and landslides in the Banten area, "he explained. (IAAS/YN)
