IPB University Placed 1st in Ministry’s Science & Technology Index (SINTA) Award

IPB University won the 1st place in the “2019 Science and Technology Index (SINTA) Award” held by the Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education (Kemenristekdikti) of Republic of Indonesia on September 12th, 2019 in Jakarta. The awarding ceremony was presented by the Director General of Research and Development Strengthening, Kemenristekdikti—Dr. Muhammad Dimyati where Rector of IPB University—Dr. Arif Satria expressed his gratitude to all IPB University inventors and innovators who continue the immense contributions. Aligned with IPB University’s newly-born tagline—“Inspiring Innovation with Integrity”, Dr. Arif emphasized that any accomplishments is outcome of a long journey of hard work. He hopes that this prestigious award can be taken as an encouragement for IPB academia to continue innovating and benefitting the nation. He as well declared that this award as not final goal, but pillar of encouragement to continue to provide innovations and patents that can be directly applied in the industrial world and society. Meanwhile, IPB Director of Innovation and Intellectual Property—Dr. Ir Syarifah Iis Aisyah stated that until 2019 IPB University has produced 469 patents, of which 157 have been granted; where the next huge step is to encourage patents and commercial products as strength of educational institutions to be more competitive globally as commitment to advance and prosper the nation. For this vision, supports from relevant stakeholders are urgently needed, including concrete incentive system from the government and industries support for accelerating the commercialization of research results, and strengthening cooperation with business and government actors to develop innovations for local potential-based development.
