IPB University Collects Aspirations from Papua and West Papua Students
About 30 students from Papua and West Papua who are currently studying at IPB University attended the Academic Monitoring and Evaluation Meeting for Students Receiving Higher Education Affirmation Scholarship (ADik Scholarship) at IPB Dramaga Campus, Bogor (24/8). The activity, which was held by the Directorate of Student Affairs and Career Development (DitmawaPK), aimed to motivate and encourage scholarship recipients to compete in the academic field.
Vice-Rector for Education and Student Affairs of IPB University, Dr. Drajat Martianto hoped that the students from Papua and West Papua can open themselves in communication. Not only communicating with fellow regional friends but also with friends from other regions, lecturers and those around them.
"Our Rector, Dr. Aris Satria, always says that a student's key to success is not only from the grade point average (GPA). High GPA is good, but it is not enough, because the keys to success are honesty, discipline, our interaction with others, and support from partners," he said.
On this occasion, Dr. Drajat hoped that every student would be able to express the problems and complaints encountered while studying at IPB University. "We will accommodate all complaints submitted and we will try to find solutions and serve students well according to existing procedures and rules," said Dr. Ir. Drajat.
Meanwhile, Head of the Sub Directorate for Student Welfare, DitmawaPK, Dr. Yusalina said that the ADik Scholarship is given by the central government, namely the Directorate General of Learning and Student Affairs (DG Belmawa). ADik Scholarship is one of the government's efforts to increase access and learning opportunities in universities for students from Papua and West Papua as well as the Frontier, Outermost and Disadvantaged (3T) regions who have good academic potential but have limited access to education. This scholarship covers living expenses and tuition fees. All facilities are given for four years plus for affirmation students. (Eid/Zul/zsp)
