In Subang, IPB University Students Solve Waste Problem

During themed community service (KKN-T) program in Subang, West Java, IPB University students prepared several programs to solve the problem regarding waste. Students from Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) prepared ‘garbage bank’ and organic fertilizers creation from household waste.

“In Subang, we will help to manage the waste, especially in Purwadadi, Binong, and Pamanukan Sub-districts. The students will help the locals in managing the waste, which we believe will bring benefits to the locals,” said Mafrikhul Muttaqin, MSi, the facilitator lecturer during KKN-T Workshop in Binong Sub-district (28/7). The workshop is titled #KembangkeunSubang.

According to him, there is infamous ‘Griya Melati’ compost house in Bogor City. The organic waste management in Griya Melati could give positive impacts to both economy and environment.

During that opportunity, the students also explained about the other innovations that IPB University will bring, such as bio-pore and Climate House, which will be implemented in KKN-T destinations. Various KKN-T activities are also expected to bring meaningful changes to the locals. (Ard)
