IPB Collaborates with Pariaman City Government, PT Riset Perkebunan Nusantara and Indonesian Japan Business Network

Located at the Mahogany Building of PT Bogor Life Science and Technology (BLST) Bogor Agricultural University (IPB) Taman Kencana Bogor (23/05) the signing of the agreement between IPB and the Pariaman City Government, PT.  Nusantara Plantation Research (PTRPN) and Indonesian Japan Business Network (IJBN).  This collaboration covers the fields of Science and Technology and the Tridharma of Higher Education.  The event was attended by Mayor of Pariaman Dr.  Genius Umar and his staff, Director of PTRPN Dr.  Teguh Wahyudi and his staff, Chairperson of IJBN Dr.  Suyoto, and the ranks of the leaders of IPB.

The collaboration between IPB and Kota Pariaman has been initiated by the Institute for Research and Community Service (LPPM) of IPB with the availability of the Agrokreatif Station (SAT) program.  SAT is a miniature of IPB innovations in various fields that have spread in approximately 30 districts with various programs produced.

"IPB still has many innovations that can be utilized with Kota Pariaman for regional development.  Meanwhile, the cooperation between IPB and PTRPN has become a driver of plantation modernization with agronomic concepts that have been developed in several locations, namely PTRPN 5, 7 and 3 for precision fertilization using satellites and sensors, "said the Rector of IPB, Dr.  Arif Satria in his remarks.

IPB currently has technology based on Artificial Intelligence (AI) and the Internet of Things (IoT) to support agricultural improvement 4.0 from upstream to downstream.  The technology for fertilizing, pesticides and harvesting already exists so that collaboration with PTRPN becomes very important because many researchers are also alumni of IPB there.

Meanwhile, the cooperation between IPB and IJBN covers the development of eel (sea eel) which is a very valuable commodity in Japan.  This eel development will be carried out in Banyuwangi with 4.0 technology based by utilizing IoT for its control system.

"This makes IPB have show windows that can be shown to the public as a place of learning and as a medium to give enlightenment to the public about the technology that IPB has," the Chancellor added.

Mayor of Pariaman, Dr.  Genius Umar who is also an alumni of IPB expressed his interest in agromaritism in harmony with the conception of agriculture which can be increased to agro-tourism.  According to him, cooperation with IPB is expected to support the formation of Green City and better waste management.

"I brought my full service team to study at IPB and the knowledge was applied in Pariaman.  My principle is how we can improve Indonesia from the area on the edge first, "he said.

Meanwhile, Dr.  Teguh Wahyudi said that he would always send PTRPN staff to obtain S2 and S3 education at IPB as one of the programs to increase Human Resource capacity.

"The collaboration between IPB and PTRPN is very much done.  Finally, we ask experts from IPB in the team to counter negative issues about oil palm, and in the future other cooperation will also be in the field of research and shared use of research facilities, "added the IPB alumni.

In addition, according to IJBN General Chair Dr.  Suyoto, IPB became the only university that was collaborated with IJBN to collaborate.  This is motivated by a large number of Japanese alumni from IPB.

"Helping collaboration between Indonesian and Japanese businesses is an important point in the agenda of signing this collaboration.  This collaboration is expected to increase the export of Indonesian products to Japan and vice versa in terms of technology transfer.  The collaboration that will be carried out is three things.  The first is developing eel (sea eel), we initially went looking for eel experts, apparently conical on several names in IPB.  We will focus on the market and business development, while the products and process development are carried out by IPB.  "The focus of other collaborations is in terms of agriculture-based 4.0 and the development of agro-industry-based human resources in the application of smart education systems that will be conducted with the IPB Business School," he said

On the same occasion the Director of Cooperation and Alumni Relations of IPB, Dr.  Heti Mulyati as the facilitator of this activity hopes that this collaboration will be beneficial and can support IPB and Indonesia to be more advanced.  (YDI / Zul)
