Want World Class University, Pakuan University has a MoU with IPB

Chancellor of Pakuan University, Bogor Prof. Bibin Rubini, M.Pd said that he wanted to emulate the steps of the IPB University which succeeded in becoming the world's leading university. For this reason, Pakuan University signed a memorandum of understanding with IPB at the University of Pakuan Campus, Bogor (21/5).

In his remarks, Prof. Bibin said that there were many things that Unpak had to learn to achieve World Class University as had been achieved by IPB. Therefore, Unpak wants to explore the experience of IPB regarding international accreditation.

Meanwhile, the Chancellor of IPB, Dr. Arif Satria on the same occasion said that IPB had collaborated with all universities in Bogor. According to him this collaboration is important to face the situation of Volatility, Uncertainty, Complexity and Ambiguity (VUCA).

"Universities must be able to see how the future trends are, this is important to be able to become a material to move. Nowadays the trend is so big regarding VUCA, technological change is so massive. This is extraordinary dynamics. Imaginative things in the current era, can be visualized. IPB also began to develop the relevant technology in the current era. There is already a tool to detect fruit maturity using a smartphone, detection of plant disease through leaf images. "There is also the detection of translations of baby cries from the findings of IPB students with an accuracy of 90 percent," he said.

According to him, the other picture of change in the VUCA era was the emergence of a new specialist profession that was very special and unexpected. Therefore, universities must be able to predict what professions are needed in 2020-2030.

In addition, higher education institutions must also look at the behavior of millennial students who hold smartphones at all times. Students see slides with just photos, share, facebook, ig, trending topics, followers. Millennials can search for their own knowledge by checking Google.

"How can universities produce graduates who survive and adapt to change. We must change the curriculum so that they become leaders, for that IPB opens the path of the Student Council Chair. It is hoped that this pathway will give birth to future leaders. "IPB has also compiled the 2020 curriculum. This curriculum adapts to changes to the blended learning method, online lectures that must adjust to millennials," said the Chancellor. (Dh / Zul)
