IPB and Mentawai Islands will Establish Maritime Polytechnic


The Institute of Research and Community Service (LPPM) of IPB University coordinated and signed a cooperation contract with the Mentawai Islands Regional Government in the Business School Building, Gunung Gede IPB Campus, Bogor (30/5).  This collaboration is related to the establishment of "Maritime-Based Maritime Polytechnic".

This signing and cooperation contract is a continuation of the cooperation that has been established.  The IPB Team consisted of the Head of LPPM IPB, Dr.  Ir.  Aji Hermawan accompanied by Prof.  Pudji Muljono, Astridina, S.Sos, M.M, Danang Aria Nugroho, SE, while from the Mentawai Islands Government attended the Head of the Regional Planning and Development Agency, Naslindo Sirait, SE., MM and staff.

"The hope with the establishment of the Maritime Polytechnic can help achieve the vision and mission of the Mentawai Islands Government to improve the quality of human resources better, so that community welfare can be achieved," said Dr.  Ir.  Aji Hermawan.

Meanwhile, Naslindo Sirait said that the establishment of the Maritime Polytechnic was part of the Mentawai Islands Government's work program in improving and encouraging the quality of the Mentawai people to face the development of the Mentawai Islands education in the future.

According to him, the process of establishing and reviewing the Mentawai Islands Matirim Polytechnic needs assistance from various parties, one of which is cooperation with the IPB LPPM.  The hope is that IPB can help and improve the quality of human resources in the Mentawai Islands in supporting the work program of the central government to develop human resources in disadvantaged and outermost areas such as the Mentawai Islands.  (dng / Awl / Zul)
