Faculty of Animal Husbandry of IPB Teams Up with FLPI to Hold Ranch Workshop
The Faculty of Animal Husbandry (Fapet) of IPB University cooperates with the Indonesian Livestock Logistics Forum (FLPI) to hold a Workshop on the Utilization of Technology 4.0 in the Supply Chain for Livestock Products Industry at the Research Center for Animal Husbandry, Jl. Raya Pajajaran, Bogor City (2/5). According to the Head of the Department of Animal Husbandry Production and Technology (IPTP) Fapet IPB, Prof. Irma Isnafia Arief represented the Dean of Faculty of Animal Husbandry IPB when opening the workshop, currently the livestock industry as a producer of processed food products is growing.
"Supply chain management in the processed livestock industry is an effort to meet customer needs. Because basically supply chain management pays attention to how the process of the goods reaches consumers by paying attention to the quality of the goods, such as durability, integrity of the goods until the order response time. The application of industry 4.0 in processing livestock products can encourage the innovation process and increase productivity, accelerate the product process and packaging well, the products produced are more specific in nature with a better scale. And efficiency can be achieved in transportation, logistics, communication, and production through networks so as to encourage the creation of reliable factories, "he said.
Therefore, according to him, this workshop was held to increase the knowledge of livestock processing industry players related to the use of 4.0 technology in improving the efficiency of industrial supply chains, processed livestock products and as a place to share in opening opportunities and challenges faced in implementing 4.0 technology in the industry processed livestock.
"The meat and poultry supply industry must continue to innovate to produce large quantities of food in a fast time in the era of industrial revolution 4.0. It is a must for breeders in Indonesia to implement technology 4.0 because of the progress of digital developments. Two important things that have started must be mastered namely big data technology and artificial intelligence. The two technologies are important considerations in making company decisions faster and the reaction in the event of irregularities in the process can be done faster to avoid greater losses, "he added.
According to him, industry 4.0 can cover from the cage to the dining table. So for the meat processing industry as one of the supply chains of the food industry, synergic relationships with parties in the chain are needed from the cage to the final consumer. Therefore, it is very important that there are various applications that connect processed plants with raw material suppliers to consumers.
Meanwhile, Head of the Agro Industry Research and Development Center, Ministry of Industry of the Republic of Indonesia, Iken Retnowulan said that the government has now begun implementing 4.0 technology on the livestock industry.
One form of effort to implement 4.0 technology is improving the flow of material that needs to be improved. Empowerment of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) by implementing and empowering through technology 4.0 to scale businesses and build national digital infrastructure.
"The government's duty is to improve technological infrastructure facilities so that the national livestock industry can progress in facing the era of technology 4.0. There are farms in Indonesia that have carried out technology 4.0 by installing barcodes on their livestock. Farmers can find out the movements of their livestock and get detailed information about the livestock. For example the history of the cow, the health of the cow, food intake and the drugs given will be known. Even livestock in Indonesia can find out that sick livestock use technology. Actually the technology is simple, but there are still many people in Indonesia who find it difficult because they use technology. We hope that the government will establish regulations for the implementation of technology 4.0 to be adapted to the conditions of the livestock industry in Indonesia, so that the market share of the livestock industry develops more advanced, especially in the supply chain for the processed livestock products industry, "he said (awl / Zul)
