IPB Rector Inaugurates Senior Counselors and Peer Counselors


IPB University prepares counseling booths for students who are facing problems. In the counseling process, students will be accompanied by a senior counselor and peer counselor who was confirmed by the Rector of IPB, Dr. Arif Satria at the Andi Hakim Nasoetion Rector Building, Dramaga IPB Campus, Bogor, (6/3). The IPB University Counselor is an aspiration forum for undergraduate and postgraduate students to devote their problems and efforts to solve their problems together.

The team of IPB University counselors who were confirmed today is the Senior Counselor Team consisting of Dr. Ir. Melly Latifah, M. Si (Coordinator), Iyep Komala, S.Pt, M. Si (Deputy Coordinator), Dr. Sri Rahaju, M.Sc (Secretary) while the Peer Counselor was Naila Aliya Marhana (Coordinator), Rizky Astana ( Deputy Coordinator), Dafina Zulfarin (Secretary).

Each department is equipped by two lecturers as counselors while in the Peer Counselor team there are several divisions such as the Education and Creative Division, the Communication and Information Division, and the Human Resource Development Division.

"IPB University will collaborate with psychiatrists and psychologists as an effort to increase counseling activities in the future. This year, there are 84 Senior Counselors and 32 Peer Counselors where senior counselors come from various backgrounds, ranging from lecturers in each faculty to religious experts. While Peer Counselors are students who come from the Department of Family and Consumer Sciences, Faculty of Human Ecology (Fema) IPB. The presence of Peer Counselors is so that students can feel more open with all the problems because they have a age that is not much different, "said the Rector.

According to him, the counselors are currently facing problems that are different from previous times. Especially with the increasingly sophisticated technology that makes the disruption that occurs increasingly felt, both positive and negative impacts. "To peer counselors, our reputation as a counselor must always be considered, because someone will pay attention to our reputation. Because the courage of students to tell stories depends on their trust in the counselors, "said the IPB Rector.

Dr. Arif Satria explained that currently there are five problems that might occur to students. These are economic, social, social, psychological and student problems with lecturers. According to him in solving these problems the counselors should also have good listening skills, so the counselor's listening ability must always be honed. (NR)
