Dosen Mengabdi (Lecturer Service) IPB University teaches business strategy to the community in Sukawening Village
The Institute of Research and Community Service (LPPM) IPB University sent two lecturers to Sukawening Village, Dramaga District, Bogor in order to run the Lecturer Service 2019 program. Lecturer Service is one of the professors and non professors activity. Community Service activity aims to develop, diffuse, apply sciences and also technology for nation’s prosperity.
Socialization which held in Sukawening Village office last November, was the second activity held by The Institute of Research and Community Service (LPPM) IPB University. There were 41 participants consisted of stakeholders, Posyandu officers, Village administrators, youths, and housewives.
Those two lecturers are Dr. Jono Mintarto Munandar from Management Department, Faculty of Economy and Management and Dr. Dimas Andrianto from Biochemistry Department, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences.
In this opportunity, Dr. Jono gives explanations about business strategy and marketing principles to the community. “While doing business, we should focus on one field that we want to develop” He said.
“Why is that so? ‘cause in business, we should pay attention thoroughly to the supporting factors, which are; consumers characters, market determination, market needs and demands. Next, start a business from the smallest things, if we do it thoroughly, it will turn out great” he said.
Meanwhile, Dr. Dimas Andrianto, explained about the source of our life; water. He explained about the important role in maintaining water quality. “Clean water is healthy, it can reduce the number of disease sufferers , especially waterborne diseases. Not only Cholera, dysentery and thypus, but also trachoma. Some diseases are usually caused by parasitic worms. In a developed country, clean water supply to the community has reached 100%, so the umber of diseases caused by enteric infections such as cholera, dysentery, thypus, and other diseases that can be pressed sharply.” He said.
He also appreciated Sukawening Village for having its own water resource called PAM. It proves that the community has started to learn independently and tried to live healthy, started with supplying clean water.
Chief of Sukawening Village, Jarkasih, expressed his gratitude to The Institute of Research and Community Service (LPPM) IPB University for giving the chance to 17 villages around IPB University, especially for applying innovations directly to the community in Sukawening Village.
“Dosen Mengabdi (Lecturer Service) activity should be maximized and welcomed by the community in Sukawening Village as a platform to increase knowledges and improve community’s economy. Dosen Mengabdi activity is very beneficial to the community and hopefully this activity will be routinely held due to its benefits to the community.” He said.
This activity was closed by distributing guava and soursop seedlings. There are 100 seeds that have been distributed to the community. Hopefully, the community of Sukawening Village will plant the seedlings and take a good care of them. (IAAS/NRF)
