Alumni Association IPB University has officially inaugurated Aksi Relawan Mandiri (ARM)


Alumni Association IPB University has officially inaugurated the staffs of humanitarian autonomous institution which named with Aksi Relawan Mandiri (ARM) on Tuesday, (10/12) at IPB International Convention Center, Bogor.

 The formation of Aksi Relawan Mandiri is a form of IPB Universitys commitment through its alumni, namely ALGANA (Alumni Tangguh Bencana). The tasks of ALGANA is to help the community who needs help, especially those who was affected by natural disasters, health emergency, and also other humanitarian crises in Indonesia.said Ir. Fathan Kamil, The Head of Alumni Association of IPB University.

Fathan said, the current humanitarian crises should be overcame through cooperation and partnerships with various parties. Working alone is not an option. Partnerships with various parties including government, universities, entrepreneurship,to civil organization and also media. They will increase the effectiveness, quality, and also the ability to help people.he added.

Furthermore, alumni of IPB University said that the Alumni Association of IPB University was committed to build the nation thoroughly. Alumni Association of IPB University has two main priorities, one of them is the regeneration of leaders. He considered that the regeneration is important to do to prepare our nations leaders in the future. 

In the other hand, Indonesia is a country with the second largest disaster in the world. This is happened because thousands of people affected by the disaster. 

 Currently, most of people didnt have a good awareness. Therefore, people should have an understanding about mitigation. Knowing that we live in a ring of fire area, we should be friends with disaster-prone situations.

ARM is formed based on the decision of National Meeting of The Alumni Association of IPB University in February 2019. This autonomous institution is consisted of experienced staffs in the field of humanitarian activities both national and international.said Nurbowo, Head of ARM.

In his very young age, ARM has done several humanitarian missions, which are helping those who are affected by smoke from foresy and land fires in Riau, solidarity actions for Ambon earthquake victim, few basic disaster management and first aid trainings for young volunteers.

Vice Rector for Education and Student Affairs, Dr. Drajat Martianto said that the work of IPB Universtys alumni was great in every aspects. Every year, alumni of IPB University have given billions of rupiahs for IPB University students who are lack of tuition fee. This is such a real form of the strong bond of alumni association of IPB University to their university. 

With the existence of ARM, hopefully people will be more responsive to disasters. IPB University and its alumni are ready to mitigate if any disaster happens. In the future, we hope that more cooperation will be done not only by alumni of IPB University and IPB University itself, but with other parties as well.

The main secretary of Indonesian National Board for Disaster Management (BNPB), Ir. Harmensyah, Dipl. SE, MM was really appreciated the inauguration of Aksi Relawan Mandiri staffs. According to him, the role of academician is needed as an effort to raise awareness of disaster response among universities including their alumni.

At the same time, alumni association of IPB University signed a memorandum of understanding in the field of humanity, especially in natural disaster aids program. Its done with the help of their partners, namely Indonesian National Board for Disaster Management (BNPB), BPJS Ketenagakerjaan (through Al-Maghfirah Association), and also LAZNAS Bank Syariah Mandiri.
