“Aku Muda Pancasila” Millennials Talk on Nationality

Fast-paced and dynamic technology development in this millennial era has massively impacted the youth. Not just a life-style shift, but also ideology. Young people has a strong tendency and most likely to be involved in social movement believed to be the opposite of Pancasila ideology. Through this activity “Aku Muda Pancasila” Millennials Talk on Nationality held by Directorate of Student Affairs and Career Development IPB University collaborating with Directorate General of Information and Public Communication and Gemilang in Andi Hakim Nasution (AHN) Auditorium IPB University, Dramaga, Bogor (7/12), all participants, mostly the youth, was lectured about the importance of devoting to Pancasila in the midst of technology development.
Beauty of diversity in Indonesia or so called Bhinneka Tunggal Ika, is started to agitate as new ideology, that doesn’t resemblance nationalism, encourages intolerant act, opposes democracy, and ascends primordialism, advances in the society alongside technology development.
“We live in the middle of a beautiful diversity with values of Pancasila. In reality, we are now disturbed with the disruptive technology development that arises new perspective that doesn’t resemblance nationalism, encourages intolerant act, opposes democracy, and ascends primordialism in the society,” said Head of Information Centre and Public Relation, Ministry of Communication and Information Technology, Mr. Ismail Cawidu.
One of the problems arising is lack of source in literacy and unbalanced transfer of knowledge in technology development and its comprehension, that leads to fake news and hoax.
“The actual problem is lack of literacy source distributed in society. It is a fact that technology is disruptively developing, but it happened with less comprehension about the technology itself. Now, what’s happening? People are easily influenced by fake news and hoax. We need to put a huge concern here as there are 171,17 million or 64,8 percent of Indonesian are an active user of internet,” Ismail added.
Moreover, Ismail explained that Indonesia is in the midst of hoax-crisis society that potentially leads to this nation’s downfall, unfair judgement, and other negative impacts. In his opinion, hoax has some traits which are fabricating anxiety, unknown source of information, one-sided message, and other negative traits. “These are able to destroy Pancasila’s values,” said Ismail.
Director of Centre for Pancasila Studies, Mr. Syaiful Arif, also mentioned that in last thirteen years, supports to Pancasila has decreased for 10 percent while supports for Indonesia as sharia country has increased to 9 percent. “Fake news and hoax are easily infiltrated Indonesia,” said Syaiful Arif.
Perspective about Pancasila as secular ideology is spread among some circle, yet it is a wrong statement since in the beginning, our national heroes who have fought for Pancasila, has considered a lot of things.
“The nationalists have fought for Pancasila by putting Deity (‘Ketuhanan’) as a foundation or root. All Pancasila values are built up from deity values. The First Principle lights up the next principles so all principles are considered right.
This is also supported with verses in Al-Quran and hadist. Thus, let’s not falsely accuse Pancasila as secular ideology,” express Syaiful Arif. (IAAS/RH)
