JELAJAH CAMPUS IPB UNIVERSITY: Introduce Agriculture and Study Programs to High School Students

Today, Sunday 10/11, Campus of IPB University, Dramaga, Bogor is packed with at least five thousand high school and equivalent students. Yes, they are following a very interesting event titled Jelajah IPB.

What is Jelajah IPB? The event, which was held by the Student Executive Body – Student Family (BEM KM) and the Communication Bureau, is an official open house aimed at further introducing IPB University to high school and equivalent students. With the theme ‘Discover Your Potential, Start Your Adventure Now’, this open house held a campus tour, campus expo, and campus introduction.

Held at Grha Widya Wisuda (11/10), this event was attended by thousands of high school students of equal level from all over Indonesia.

M. Nurdiansyah, Student President of IPB University, said that a nation’s career is determined by its agriculture. It is the duty of IPB University students, as the best agricultural tertiary institution in Indonesia, to be able to fill and work in the country’s agricultural spaces.

The Rector of IPB University, Prof. Dr. Arif Satria, said that the achievements of IPB University had been achieved so far. As a university known for various innovations, Prof. Arif Satria targets IPB University to become the number one university in Indonesia. “We encourage people at IPB to always innovate. Of 1,115 innovations in Indonesia, 38% come from IPB University,” said the IPB University lecturer from the Faculty of Human Ecology.

He further said, IPB University is ready to prepare an environment that supports students to develop. Because the things that determine success on post-campus are soft skills and character. For that reason, IPB University continued, compiling a curriculum that can hone the soft skills and character of its students.

“IPB University has opened a selection path for the Chair of the Student Council. This pathway is a proof of the seriousness of IPB University in producing domestic leaders,” he said.

Prof. Arif Satria also emphasized that the scope of agriculture is not as narrow as many people think. Talking about agriculture is not just talking about food, but health, cosmetics, and many other things. He welcomed all high school students who were equal and hoped to see these students later becoming students of IPB University.

Jelajah IPB University is also filled with exposure to the advantages of existing study programs at IPB University. Not only that, faculty / school stands are provided to explore further about each other’s strengths.

There are also campus tour activities, where students can look closely at class facilities, laboratories, field laboratories and so on in each faculty.

By attending this event, it is hoped that students will become more determined to make themselves warriors of agricultural progress in the future. And IPB University is ready to accommodate their commitments by educating them through a series of lecture, practicum, organizational and various social activities. (NR)
