IPB University Holds Workshop on Accreditation of Study Programs Using IAPS 4.0

IPB University once again held a workshop to prepare the accreditation of study programs (study programs) using IAPS 4.0 for the second time.  Previously, the first phase of this activity was carried out last May.  This workshop was organized by the Office of Quality Management, Risk Management and Internal Audit (KM3RAI) at the Common Class Room Auditorium (CCR) on 11-12/11.

In this workshop explained the advanced instruments in the study program accreditation instrument (IAPS) 4.0 by presenters from the National Accreditation Board for Higher Education (BAN-PT).

The Head of KM3RAI IPB University, Dr. Ibnul Qoyim hopes that the existence of this new instrument can facilitate the study program in applying for accreditation.

“At the moment there are two study programs at IPB University that have not been able to issue a diploma because the accreditation is over, because that is why this accreditation workshop is very important,” Ibnul Qoyim said.

According to him, accreditation is a guarantee that all elements in the study program have carried out the activities as well as possible.  He also hopes that by using the IAPS 4.0 system, other accreditation institutions can be created that can facilitate higher education.

“BAN-PT has a very difficult task because of the many study programs that submit the accreditation process.  Moreover, the instruments used are old instruments and new instruments, “he said.

One of the speakers from BAN-PT, Prof. Dr. Ir Lilis Nuraida, MSc said that IAPS 4.0 has a very far change from the old instruments.  In the previous instrument, one matrix applies to all, while the new instrument has a different assessment component for each program.

“The procedure is not different but the process is long because the way the study program is accredited is different.  The old instruments work more on inputs, while the current instruments are more on process, “said Prof. Lilis.

He explained, the accreditation which currently aims to see the results of quality assurance work.  He hopes that the accreditation results will not meet the accreditation requirements, then the results of the accreditation will not come out.

Also attending as a guest speaker at this event was Prof. Sudarsono, MSc from BAN-PT.  The event was attended by the deans of the faculties / schools, heads of departments, heads of environmental studies programs at IPB University.  (LR / RA)
