IPB University Again Holds Nusantara Flower and Fruit Festival

IPB University held Nusantara Flower and Fruit Festival (FBBN) 2019 placed at Pakansari Stadium, Bogor. FBBN event this year held as the collaboration between IPB University with Bogor Regency Government. This event held on 29 November – 1 December 2019.

Series of event of FBBN 2019 were agro innovation expo, nusantara coffee expo, competitions (drawing, fashion show, arranging flowers, excellent fruits), coffee innovation expo, and smart farming talk show.

Rector of IPB University, Prof Dr Arif Satria in his speech said that this event had been held since 2012. “IPB University has developed concepts in agriculture there are green revolution for food self-sufficiency, and orange revolution for nusantara fruit promotion. For that, IPB University can not walk alone, it needs collaboration with government, academic, company, and farmer,” said Prof Arif Satria.

Also attended on giving speech, General Director Horticulture Ministry of Agriculture, Dr Prihasto Setyanto represented Indonesian Minister of Agriculture. “Years ahed Ministry of Agriculture always support orange revolution development, especially for fruit export in order to Indonesia’s import balance.

This event officially opened by Regent of Bogor, Ade Yasin. In her speech, Ade Yasin delivered that there are fruit and decorative plants export commodity from Bogor, there are mangosteen and aglonema. She also committed to provide land for IPB University to use as agriculture production so as not to be converted.

The event was followed by a carnival, a marching band and a march that was enlivened by 35 carnival participants from government offices in the Bogor Regency Government, universities (IPB University and Bogor Agricultural Development Polytechnic), and the horticultural community.

After the carnival, the group of Regent and Deputy Regent of Bogor Regency, Rector of IPB University, and the General Director of Horticulture Ministry of Agriculture visited the FBBN expo stand, the nusantara coffee expo, and the IPB University Agro Innovation expo.

IPB University’s Agro Innovation Expo consists of 40 booths divided into four clusters namely agricultural innovation clusters, fishery innovation clusters, livestock innovation clusters, biomedical / cosmetic innovation clusters and advanced material innovation clusters.

During a visit to the IPB University Agro Innovation expo, the Bogor Regent was very interested in the innovations produced by the innovators of IPB University and even had a chance to try and taste and give testimonials on these innovations.

In 2019 FBBN there was also a coffee innovation talk show and a smart farming talk show attended by hundreds of participants. The talk show speakers were innovators from IPB University.
