Department of Physic IPB University Gives Coaching Clinic Robotics and IoT on Physic Goes to School in South Sulawesi


Department of Physic, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) IPB University held Physics Goes to School (PGTS) program in two residences in South Sulawesi, there are Pinrang Residence and Enrekang Residence. PGTS is a work program by Department of Physic FMIPA IPB University aims to share new insight and knowledge to student about physic and its application.

So far, Department of Physics IPB University only held PGTS in West Java and Banten since 2012. To wider the area of PGTS, Department of Physics IPB University initiatively held first PGTS outside Java Island. This PGTS held in SMANegeri 1 Pinrang on October 24 2019 and in SMA Negeri 1 Enrekang on October 28 2019.

On this PGTS Department of Physics IPB University socialized the work programs and achievements also the excellence of Departmente of Physics IPB University in maintaining the education program in IPB University.

The Chairman of Department of Physics FMIPA IPB University, Dr Akhiruddin Maddu delivered that Department of Physic carries the mission realizing higher education in the field of physics that is professional and produces technology that is beneficial to society.

“Physics science is one of the basic science that base the technology development and role in creating industry revolution from industry 1.0 to 4.0. This is proven by using the internet in various activities as Internet of Things (Iot),” continued the lecturer of IPB University.

In PGTS also socializing about faculties/schools and the study program excellence in IPB University, and the role of IPB University in building agriculture in Indonesia. Beside that, also introducing the path of admission of new students at IPB University such as the Regional Envoy Scholarship (BUD) and the Chair of the Student Council.

Not only socialization, in this opportunity the high school students got coaching facilitation about robot and Iot. Through coaching, they were introduced about robot and IoT ware the product of student’s innovation and alumni of Department of Physics FMIPA IPB University.

Head of the South Sulawesi Region X Education Office Branch, Baharuddin Iskandar also welcomed the activities carried out in the area. According to him, activities like this are very important and beneficial to increase student literacy in science and technology.

“This program gives new insight to students about updated science and technology and can motivate students to study diligently to increase their competence. I hope the similar program can hold routine and sustainable in schools, especially in the South Sulawesi Region X Education Office Branch,” said Baharuddin/

The PGTS program series included the meeting with physic teachers that join Musyawarah Guru Mata Pelajaran (MGMP) High School Physic of Pinrang Residence and Enrekang Residence. This program aimed to build communication network and collaboration with teachers’ community in high school or same level through MGMP Physic of a region in Pinrang Residence and Enrekang Residence South Sulawesi. Majority of physics teachers in Pinrang Residence and Enrekang Residence attended the discussion. (NR)
