Dr Arif Satria, Rector of IPB University received a visit from the West Papua Livestock Breeding and Feed Forage Agency (BPT HMT) at the IPB University Campus. The group was welcomed by the Rector in the Rector’s Meeting Room, Dramaga Campus, Bogor (10/10).

Previously, the group had arrived at the IPB University Campus to conduct technical guidance with the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine (FKH) of IPB University. For several days, West Papua BPT HMT received guidance such as artificial insemination of cows from experts at FKH of IPB University.

“We would like to express our gratitude to IPB University for receiving and guiding us. We really need this technical guidance to improve our capability. We will implement the knowledge we learn here in West Papua,” said Yusak Jackson Sada, Head of West Papua BPT HMT.

Yusak said that West Papua has enormous agricultural potential, especially in the livestock sector. However, human resource still becomes a significant problem. According to him, this is because very few students from West Papua take agriculture study program at the university.

Meanwhile, the IPB University Rector committed to contributing to encouraging agricultural development in West Papua. “We hope that the relationship between IPB University and West Papua can be stronger. In the future, there must be a Memorandum of Understanding to establish cooperation with the Government of West Papua Province; thus, technical guidance in the fields of agriculture, fisheries, animal husbandry, forestry and environment can be continuously carried out in the future,” said Dr Arif.
