Increasing Student’s Insight on International Programs, BEM KM of IPB University Presents Tasya Kamila on Instagram 2.0 Activity

According to a 2019 survey conducted by the Student Executive Board (BEM) of the Student Family (KM) of IPB University, many IPB University students have never participated in international activities. One reason is the lack of student knowledge and information on the international programs.
In order to broaden students’ insights regarding international activities, education and campus life, the Ministry of Education of BEM KM of IPB University held International Talk (Instagram) 2.0 in the Common Class Room, Dramaga Campus, Bogor (14/9). Instagram 2.0 is an annual dicussion activity on the international education system that has been conducted since 2018.
This year’s Instagram 2.0 featured Tasya Kamila, a recipient of the Education Fund Management Institution (LPDP) who had graduated from Columbia University, United States. For an actress like Tasya Kamila, having an opportunity to experience the education system in Indonesia and another country was very exciting and challenging. Dealing with different languages and cultures is a good experience for her. On this occasion, Tasya explained the tips on how to get the LPDP scholarship including her journey to pass the selection, and how to be accepted at a top university.
“First, we need to determine the targets, both for university, department and graduation year. Scholarship selection and university selection are two different things. We have to prepare everything we need in advance to make a maximum strategy. Moreover, for undergraduate students who are planning to continue to study abroad with a scholarship, they had better prepare it earlier since still studying, not starting preparing it after graduating. In the future, the competition will increase and become tighter,” said Tasya.
The theme for this year’s activity was “Increasing the Quality of Millennial Resource by Joining International Program”. It was hoped that the International Talk Program can provide information and motivate IPB University students to join international programs in terms of scholarships, exchanges, short terms, conferences and others.
“In the future, I hope that students will be more active in looking for information related to international programs by utilizing facilities from IPB, events, International Collaboration Office (ICO), etc,” said Nurdiyansyah, Chairperson of BEM KM of IPB University.
Meanwhile, Head of the Sub Directorate for Character Building, Directorate of Student Affairs and Career Development (Ditmawa PK) of IPB University, Beginer Subhan, MSi, said that international activities are very useful for students because it can provide unforgettable experiences, hone soft skills to survive in other countries, and expand networking.
“It is important to know the types of quality international activities which information can be easily accessed. IPB University has been very supportive in providing facilities to students who will take part in international program activities, starting from access to information, the existence of ICO of IPB University and others. So students must use these facilities optimally,” he explained. (Husna/Zul/zsp)
