Gebyar Nusantara: Exploring the Wealth of the Indonesian Archipelago Cultures

IPB University once again held the opening of the 2019 Gebyar Nusantara (Genus) / Indonesian Archipelago Splendor performance on Saturday, 7/9 at Grha Widya Wisuda, IPB Dramaga Campus, Bogor. Rector of IPB University, Dr Arif Satria said that the Genus was held to appreciate Indonesian cultures.

“The arts that we have illustrate the cultural diversity of the nation. In innovation and technological development, we strive to inspire the world, but in our daily lives, we must be able to inspire the world with our culture and art. Art is an essential thing, and now art has become an industry, a tool of diplomacy, and another instrument in maintaining global stability. Therefore, we must be able to take advantage of this art to maintain the sustainability of our lives and the stability at the national and international levels,” said Dr Arif.

On the same occasion, Chairperson of the Student Executive Board (BEM) of the Student Family (KM) of IPB University, Muhammad Nurdiansyah said that culture is the identity of the youth and children of our nation. This nation can survive because of the spirit of cultural diversity.

“Founding Fathers also built this country based on the diversity of our nation. We realise that we have now entered an era of disruption, where maintaining cultural aspects is a challenge. We cannot let our local cultures be distracted by the times. This year’s Gebyar Nusantara has the theme of Astinara Budaya Indonesia, which means the hidden treasure of Indonesian archipelago culture. Hopefully, with this Genus, we can explore the richness of our cultures,” he said.

Meanwhile, Chief Executive of Gebyar Nusantara, Achmad Rizky revealed that the Genus is a portrait of cultural diversities owned by IPB University students. We hope that all students can take and implement cultural values in their lives. (Dino/Zul/zsp)
