72 students of the Department of Computer Science, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, IPB University (IPB MIPA) present their research results, both in the form of oral and poster presentations in the Scientific Seminar on Computer Science (Semilkom), Saturday (27/4).

Semilkom 2019 is aimed at improving the scientific insights in the field of computer science that continues to grow rapidly. Semilkom consist of presentations from speakers representing elements from the government, universities and industry as well as presentation of research results in 84 papers written and presented orally in the form of posters from seven universities. This activity is expected to improve the science of the participants, while enhancing scientific networks to a broader scale.

Semilkom 2019 presents four keynote speakers, namely Prof. Heru Susanto, Skom, MSc from the Indonesian Institute of Sciences (LIPI), Dr. Ir. Sri Wahjuni, MT from the Department of Computer Science IPB, Achmad Imam Kistijantoro, ST. MSc, PhD of STEI ITB, and Ir. Satriyo Dharmanto, MSi of MULTIKOM Global Mediatama.

Dr. Imas Sukaesih Sitanggang, SSI, MKom, Chairman of the Department of Computer Science Education Commission IPB describes an effort to accelerate the implementation Semilkom timely graduation. Furthermore, the impact of Semilkom expected to add insight, especially in the field of Internet of Things (IOT), big data, and its application in agriculture. “In addition, with this Semilkom, is expected to expand social networks Computer Science students for this event also attended by participants from outside the University.”

Semilkom existence is also expected to contribute to the vision of the University. Dr. Arif Satria, SP MSi, Rector of IPB, expressed as the present situation is no longer possible for fisheries, agriculture, forestry, and livestock to not involve IOT, artificial intelligence, and data analytics. Dr. Arif has big expectations to the students of the Department of Computer Science Faculty of IPB to begin to increase cooperation in developing the latest technologies in agriculture. “With the embodiment of modern agriculture through the use of technology, agriculture image back into the superior and the community will re proud to recognize agriculture as the backbone of the nation,” he said.

Chairman of the Department of Computer Science IPB, Prof. Dr. Ir. Agus Buono, M.Si, MKom emphasized the role of the Computer Science Department in realizing agriculture 4.0 is positioning itself as a world standard education institutions to print human resources Information Technology (IT) who are competent in realizing the method and create tools in the field of computer science, as well as realizing production process, monitoring, analysis, and present smart solutions in various fields, through the activities of teaching, research, and community service. Dr. Karlisa Priandana, ST MEng, Secretary of the Department of Computer Science IPB explained that holds the most important part of big data that distinguishes between 4.0 to agriculture farm 3.0 in Indonesia. The era of big data in agriculture has actually been able to begin because of the Internet of things technology, cyber security, cloud systems, and high-speed computing is growing. “In the future, this will be a big data base automation of decision making in the agricultural chain from upstream to downstream, from farmers to consumers. In the end, the farm business will become profitable and more attractive, where farmers do not work as farm laborers but transformed into a farmer manager, “he said. (AVR)
