140 Slaughtermen from Jakarta Follow "Juleha"

Approximately 140 slaughtermen from DKI Jakarta will take part in the Halal Slaughterer (Juleha) Competency Training and Test in DKI Jakarta. Hundreds of participants will be divided into seven batches and for the first batch, approximately 22 participants will be slaughtered from the Catfish Swamp Poultry House (RPHU) (12-14 / 2). Juleha poultry training and competency tests will then be held in five RPHUs, namely RPHU Rawa Kepiting, Petukangan, Rorotan, and Rawa Terate, and Juleha ruminants in Cakung Slaughterhouse (RPH). The implementation is from February to May 2019.

This activity was held thanks to the collaboration of the Halal Science Center (HSC) Institute for Research and Community Service (LPPM) of the Bogor Agricultural University (IPB) with the DKI Jakarta Province Food, Maritime and Agriculture Security Agency (KPKP). Juleha is one of the implementations of the MoU between the Governor of DKI Jakarta Province, Anies Baswedan, and the Chancellor of the Bogor Agricultural Institute, Dr. Arif Satria, some time ago.

"We the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government has a program to train 140 halal slaughterers. We hope this training will truly be a way for us to begin to change, because in the future there will be a Halal Product Guarantee Law. Juleha's competence is an afterlife business, moral responsibility so that it must be able to guarantee that the products produced are halal, "said drh. Sri Hartati, MSi, Head of Department of Veterinary Public Health at the KPKP Office of DKI Jakarta Province at the opening of Juleha Batch I Competence Training and Test.

According to him, the critical point of the ban on meat, both poultry and ruminants is the slaughter process. Therefore, this training refers to SKKNI No. 196 of 2014 to meet Juleha's professional work competency standards. Namely the notion of slaughter, both in terms of Islamic law, as well as technical aspects of veterinary public health and animal welfare.

Meanwhile, Prof. Dr. Khaswar Syamsu, M.Sc as a resource person as well as the Head of HSC of IPB said Juleha was closely related to the law of halal and haram which was explained by the Qur'an and hadith. "Halal is illegitimate is our responsibility. Being a halal slaughterhouse is a noble task because of preparing animal foods for Muslims, "he said.

Participants receive material on the principles of animal welfare, hygiene and sanitation, slaughter equipment and how to properly coordinate work. In addition, participants will also take competency tests involving the Animal Health Professional Certification Institution recognized by the National Professional Certification Agency (BNSP). This certification is recognized internationally.

Interesting discussions took place during the technical submission and the practice of slaughter by drh. Supratikno, MSi, PAVet as Head of Research Team for IPB Halal HSC Slaughter. Drh. Supratikno reminded that important halal slaughter was understood by various stakeholders. Not only the slaughterer, but also traders and buyers of broiler chicken.

Halal Science Center IPB has conducted various trainings. Such as Halal Supervisor Competency Training and Test and Technical Training on Cosmetics Halal Analysis with PCR and LCMS. IPC HSC also has the capacity to carry out technical assistance in implementing the halal guarantee system, verification and validation of halal authentication methods, and various laboratory analyzes. Halal Science Center IPB has collaborated with various parties including The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), DKI Jakarta Provincial Government, Bogor City Government, LPPOM MUI, Halal Product Guarantee Agency (BPJPH), Drug and Food Control Agency (BPOM), and LSP Keswan .
