SoDung: Planting the Love towards Alma Mater from The Beginning
Basically, not all study programs desired by students can be achieved in accordance with what is desired. Many students, not only at IPB, feel that they are in the wrong study program. Of course, this will affect to the low enthusiasm and motivation of students to explore their potentials.
This became the concern for the dormitory of General Competency Education Program (PPKU) that partnered with Directorate of Partnerships and Alumni Relationship (DKHA), Bogor Agricultural University (IPB), to present ten young alumni that had been successful after graduating in the “House Social Gathering (SoDung)” that was conducted on Wednesday (12/12) in PPKU Dormitory Building, IPB Dramaga Campus, Bogor.
“We notice that these freshmen need a spirit to be able to rise up. Many of them feel like they have been placed in a wrong study program. This motivation can be gotten from the experienced people, which are the alumni,” explained Dr. Zaenal Abidin, the Assistant Director in Students Dormitory and Student Affairs of PPKU IPB.
Those ten alumni are Erick Mulyana, Zimam, Muhammad Reza Pahlevi, Zulfikar Rahman, Azka Lathifa, Faradila Danasworo Putri, Devi Novi Astuti, Annisa Hasanah, Muhammad Imron Halimi, and Aang Hudaya.
Annisa Hasanah, an IPB alumna and entrepreneur in children games, taught the students to plan their future in a written form. “Only by creating a game, I can go to Germany. Every dream that I have, I wrote them all. Because for me, it is not enough to only rely on the GPA (IPK), so I always maximize every opportunity. So, you guys must plan it from now,” she said.
Meanwhile, an alumna that is also a photographer, Devi Novi Astuti told about her story and experience while traveling abroad and visiting many regions in Indonesia. In her opinion, in organizational activities, she learned about leadership. “My life principle is that the best that a human can be is to be useful for others. That is why in everything I do, I do not question what it can give me, but rather what can I give? That is what motivates me,” she added.
SoDung is a routine activity for every PPKU dormitory residences. This activity is conducted in every dormitory building by inviting guest speakers. SoDung’s purpose is to provide an interactive and informative platform for all residence in a building. Hopefully, the invited alumni can motivate and share all recent information related to the development and character building of all students. (CN)
