IPB’s Standings on World’s University Rankings Significantly Climbed Up
Bogor Agricultural University (IPB) proudly and gratefully presents the most recent announcement released by the Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) Asia University Ranking (AUR) as it ranks 130th among Asian best universities. This year, the position climbed up by 17 levels compared to 2017 (147th), following the previous achievement on being enlisted in World’s top 79th by Subject of Agriculture and Forestry of QS World University Ranking (WUR). Dr. Arif Satria–Rector of IPB during his appreciation remarks declared the university’s next set goal to enter Asia’s Top 100. This objective on internationally-recognized rankings standings enhancement must go hand-in-hand with efforts development on contributions through conceptions, thoughts and innovations for the sake of Indonesian nation’s better progress. Prof. Anas Miftah Fauzi–IPB WUR Program Coordinator described aside of the 2016 accomplishment on acquiring Top 100 by Subject of Agriculture and Forestry of QS WUR (rose from Top 150 in 2015), IPB standings has been significantly improving each and every year in both World’s and Asia list. The rank increased from 836th in 2015 to 728th in 2018 in QS WUR, and 201st-205th in 2015, 191st in 2016, 147th in 2017 to this year’s 130th in QS AUR. Meanwhile, another prestigious World’s ranking board, The Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings, has included IPB this year to its World’s 601+ for Life Science. THE WUR claims to be the only global university performance table to judge research-intensive universities across all of each core missions: teaching, research, knowledge transfer and international outlook, by utilizing 13 carefully calibrated performance indicators to provide the most comprehensive and balanced comparisons, trusted by students, academics, university leaders, industry and governments. The rankings calculation has been subject to independent audit by professional services firm PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), making THE proudly declares as the only global university rankings to be subjected to full, independent scrutiny of this nature. The means to increase IPB's rankings continue to be carried out, among others through increasing internationalization, strengthening academic and graduates reputation, promotion, boosting lecturer/student ratio, facilitating international research collaboration networks, as well as increasing number of papers and citations in international publications.
