IIEE 2018, A Step Forward Towards IPB Entrepreneur University 2045

In order to commemorate IPB’s 55th Dies Natalis, the Directorate of Innovations and Enterpreneurship of Bogor Agricultural University (IPB) held an Innovation and Enterpreneurship Expo (IIEE) 2018, at IPB International Convention Center (IICC), Bogor (5/10). This is an even that is annually held from year to year and is entering its fifth year.

The event took on the theme “Agricultural 4.0 for Food Sovereignity” this aimed to display, introduce, and communicate IPB’s innovations to the community.

The Director of Innovations and Enterpreneurship IPB, Dr. Ir. Syarifah Iis Aisyah explained that innovations and enterpreneurship are the keys to improve the competitiveness of a nation. Where the role of innovations in the social and technology division are very crucial to improve. IPB as an institution with the reputation of producing educated youth has an important active role in realizing this and has been stated in IPB’s vision to become an Enterpreneur University in the year 2045.

“IPB seeks to accelerate the process of downstreaming the results of research (innovations) which has been felt to benefit in supporting agricultural development in the broadest sense. "The development of entrepreneurship models are based on technology and social innovation (techno-socio-entrepreneurship) at IPB requires the support of established infrastructure and institutions, including regulations that support," said Dr. Iis.

She added, IIEE 2018 is divided into several activities, namely the innovation expo, business meetings and entrepreneur talk shows. There were 29 booths consisting of 16 innovation product stands and 13 entrepreneurial product stands.

There are 57 innovations produced by 35 innovators / lecturers of IPB. The entrepreneurs of IPB students / alumni who participated in this exhibition amounted to 26 people with 33 types of products. IPB's Academic Business Unit (SUA) and IPB's Agribusiness Development Station (ADS) also participated in this year's IIEE activities.

In addition, this activity also held a business meeting that brought together 18 innovators (21 products) with 35 potential investors. This business meeting is divided into five clusters, namely food clusters, energy and machinery clusters, biomedical clusters, feed clusters and bio-fertilizer and material clusters.

The Rector of IPB, Dr. Arif Satria during the opening of IIEE 2018 said, IPB wants to improve their knowledge flow and develop technology and social innovation-based entrepreneurship (techno-socio-entrepreneurship) and discuss current issues related to entrepreneurial opportunities and new business models in an era of technological and social innovation-based disruption (talk shows )

This activity is part of our effort in realizing the vision of IPB to become a Techno-socio-entrepreneur University that will produce technopreneurs and socio-preneurs. We need technopreneurs and socio-preneurs in order to downstream and increase IPB's share to the community, industry and government. Therefore, we hope that the innovations of IPB will become more grounded, can be utilized and boost the economy, especially improving the welfare of the people, "said the Rector of IPB.

According to him, for the past two years (2017 and 2018), IPB also achieved first place Anugerah Widyapadhi National as an award in their efforts to develop innovations and commercialize innovations and as the most innovative campus. This of course became a part of IPB’s presence which was felt to benefit the community. Therefore, IPB must continue to work hard to continue to produce innovations in accordance with the needs of the community.

Meanwhile, in the keynote speech of the Presidential Special Staff and the Deputy Chairperson of the Indonesian Farmers Harmony Association, Avanti Fontana congratulated IPB for being the most innovative campus.

"We must continue to encourage national industries to develop downstream agricultural products in realizing food sovereignty. In addition, through downstreaming, agribusiness actors will get added value and market guarantees which will ultimately improve the welfare of the Indonesian people. Going forward, downstreaming agricultural products can be the host in their own country. For this reason, through IIEE 2018, I expect business opportunities to become a bridge between the processing industry and the agricultural sector so as to foster entrepreneurship based on technological and social innovation, "he said.

Meanwhile, the Entrepreneurship Talkshow invited Director of High Risk Processed Food Supervision, Drug and Food Supervisory Agency (BPOM), Ir. Tetty Helfery Sihombing, Head of the Center for Agricultural Technology Transfer Manager, Dr. Retno Sri Mulyandari and five other sources of successful young entrepreneurs who are IPB Alumni.

They are Rizal Fahreza (Eptilu Founder), Sandi Octa Susila (Founder of Mitra Tani Parahyangan), Annisa Hasanah (Founder of Ecofunopoly), Eky Sulistio (Founder of J’rami Farm) and Reni Armaidah (Founder of Saesha Mask). Each resource person shared their experience in entrepreneurship and established a company so that it could be as successful as it is today.

This event was also attended by the Vice Chancellor for Innovation, Business and Entrepreneurship, Prof. Dr. Ir. Erika Budiarti Laconi, Deputy Chairperson of the Board of Trustees (MWA) of IPB, Dr. Ahmad Mukhlis Yusuf, Chair of the IPB Alumni Association, Ir. Fathan Kamil, the deans, directors / office heads / bureau chiefs and other officials in the IPB environment. This event will run until Sunday October 7 2018. (AVR)
