SERVING THE BEST: IPB WAS GRANTED THE BEST FOREIGN RESEARCH PARTNER AWARD


Gradually becoming one of the most significant features of global scientific and technological advancement, research collaboration is an inseparable aspect in higher education environment. It is not only important in research acceleration but also enhances the quality, thus resulting in good science.

Bogor Agricultural University (IPB) proves its strong commitment in integrating collaboration in research development strategy.  IPB was -again- awarded The Best Foreign Research Partner by category of state universities in Indonesia. The award was given by Indonesian Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education during the second Foreign Researcher Partners National Coordination Meeting 2018 which was held on Thursday (July 5th, 2018) at Sari Pan Pacific Hotel, Jakarta. The trophy and the award certificate were handed to Dr. Arif Satria, the Rector of IPB, by Dr. Muhammad Dimyati, the Director General of Research and Development. IPB dominated the list by having collaboration with 396 foreign researchers, which was three folds higher compared to those collaborating with ITB, a fellow Indonesian university that ranked 292 on QS as of 2018. Through these collaborations, IPB successfully achieved the highest number of joint publications by 29%, nationally.

Being one of the World's richest nations in terms of its biodiversity, Indonesia keeps attracting foreign researchers.  Data published in the Foreign Researcher Partners National Coordination Meeting this year showed that 45% of foreign researchers coming to Indonesia conducting joint research in biodiversity. Biodiversity is also one of the strongest research agenda in IPB which put the university at the World's top 100 based on QS World University Ranking by Subject of Agriculture & Forestry in 2018. Bringing the theme of "Opportunities and Challenges of International Science and Technology Cooperation: Global Issues, Strategic Partnership, and Benefit Sharing", this year Foreign Researcher Partners National Coordination Meeting emphasized the importance of simplifying the bureaucracy to enhance more collaboration.
