Rector of Bogor Agricultural University (IPB), Dr. Arif Satria,  with the President Commissioner of PT. Charoen Pokphand Indonesia (CPI), T. Hadi Gunawan, inaugurated Building-C of Business School (SB) of Bogor Agricultural University, IPB Campus, Gunung Gede, Bogor, on 28 March 2018. The inauguration of this new building was witnessed by the previous Rector of IPB period 2007-2012 and 2012-2017, Prof. Herry Suhardiyanto, IPB Rector for the period of 2002-2007 A A. Matjik, Chairman of the Board of Trustees (MWA) Prof. M. A Chozin, and Dean SB IPB, Prof. Dr. Ir. Noer Azam Achsani.

PT Charoen Pokphand Indonesia announced that a total of Rp. 8.9 Billion was granted for the SB IPB for the renovation of the old SB IPB building into Building-C SB IPB. The total area the renovated building reaches 2,000 square meters, they will be used for class-rooms, business research centre, and large  meeting room. The donation  is expected to assist IPB  to improve its Educational program, especially SB IPB.

Prof. Noer Azam Achsani in his remarks expressed his gratitude for the support of PT. CPI so that the School of Business of IPB can grow. PT. CPI with IPB has established extraordinary relationship, for example PT CPI has administered a number of scholarships for IPB students, the construction of a close house and now the new buildings.

"The full support of PT. CPI enabled SB IPB built the buildings for its learning process. PT. CPI with IPB had established the long-standing cooperation.  Since 2001 up to now, PT. CPI has been providing scholarships for students of the Faculty of Animal Husbandry, and the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of IPB. The University had awarded Doctor of Honoris Causa for Mr. Sumet Jiaravanon, founder of PT.CPI. lately,  PT.CPI had  granted "Closed House" cage as a teaching farm for IPB. These  "Closed House" cages have been used for students and lecturers to carry out their research programs and simultaneously as an added value for IPB," he said.

Further Prof. Noer Azam stated that SB IPB has been established since 1991,  formerly it was named Master of Agribusiness Management. It has got A accreditation since it was first established. Based on Webometrics Europe, currently SB IPB was ranked the fifth best business school.

Meanwhile Dr. Arif Satria in his remarks stated that IPB and CPI have long-standing cooperation, both in research, education and community service. In this special occasion PT. CPI also handed over 3 billion Rupiah endowment funds (educational scholarships) for IPB.

"We must create a more collaborative to meet changing global needs. Such as changes in internet technology of things, climate and environmental change. In addition, there are predictions in 2030 Asia will be a new world power. We must look at these changes, together and respond to the people of Indonesia. In adapting we can’t alone, but must collaborate, "he said.

To that end, the challenge of how we’ll feed the exploding the Indonesian population in the future in a sustainable, cost-effective and environmentally friendly way, is seeding an agricultural revolution. IPB began to think smart farming ranging from aquaculture, ocean robotics, digital computers, economy digital, digital communication. Smart Farming represents the application of modern Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) into agriculture, leading to what can be called a Third Green Revolution. Not only used in education but how IPB can share it to the nation, industry and community. So it can strengthen each other.

"For that the alumni of IPB they must be really hand on. We will miss it if we are not hand on. We must pay attention to the human, the planet we live in, maintain sustainability, respond to the challenge and develop new scientific methods. The university-business-government collaboration cases are described and used as supporting knowledge for the development of our nation. We must cooperate together," said Rector.

Meanwhile, President Commissioner of PT CPI, T. Hadi Gunawan, said granting Bogor Agricultural University a grant for the construction of new buildings, is an opportunity for PT. CPI to assist IPB to de its best for the nation.

"I’d like to dedicate this grant to the late Jiacipto Jiaravanon, Executive Chairman of Charoen Pokphand Group Indonesia as a tribute to commemorate his services. He was one of the leaders who apply sincere and intelligent leadership patterns. The grant is not only a gift of money, it is a passing on of what you have achieved. It is seed for new growth given in inspiration, in money and with expertise for causes you care for diligent and smart students but less-fortunate. It is expected that Rector will accept and manage, it will the blessing for IPB and will be beneficial not only for PT. CPI but also for Indonesia, "he said. (Wied)
