Excitement of IPB Goes to School in Reog City of Ponorogo

On the holiday of the first semester, the Local Student Organization (Omda) of Bogor Agricultural University (IPB) introduced the IPB campus to the high school students in their home town. Omda Manggolo Putro, Ponorogo also included in this socialization of IPB campus familiarly known as IPB Goes to School or IGTS.

This IGTS activity took place at the end of January and participated by 54 members. They conducted socialization in 11 schools with more than 1000 high school participants.

"In addition to IGTS activities to several high schools, we also participated in the activities of Smaga Campus Expo 2018, Mandapo Campus Festival 2018, Ikasmaza Campus Fair 2018, Smada Campus Invasion 2018 and Campus Fair of Reyog Nusantara Students 2018," said Chairman of Omda Ponorogo, Hanan Hisbul Fatoni .

According to him, the question that often being asked is about the cost of living. Understandably Ponorogo is a small district whose costs tend to be cheaper than big cities like Bogor. Another question posed by students is whether IPB prioritizes the local students from West Java in SNMPTN.

"We respond to this by firmly answering that IPB does not give priority to the local/West Java students only. IPB is a populist campus that all students across the archipelago gather there.We will find friends from various islands that are also numerous, so it is impossible if IPB prioritizes students from West Java region alone, "he said.

According to him, from the testimony of some students it appears that activities such as IGTS is very necessary. Because it adds insight and knowledge about IPB campus, its campus life and living cost in Bogor. Information from senior IPB students is more acceptable for them than reading on the internet.

"We also give contact person so they can contact us at any time," he added.

Meanwhile, according to one of the Guidance and Counseling Teachers (BK) from SMA Negeri 3 Ponorogo, IGTS activities conducted by Manggolo Putro at school is very useful. This activity not only promotes IPB campus but also shares about lectures and motivation activities for the students who will continue studying out of town.

In addition, positive responses were also conveyed by some of the teachers they visited. It is proven that IPB students get a good reception and the teachers hope their students can be accepted in IPB. (TK)
