Over 50 Percent of the Departments Under IPB Have Been Accredited by International Accrediting Bodies
Up to mid the year 2017, 23 out of 39 Departments of Bogor Agricultural University (IPB) have successfully gained international accreditation from various institutions. "This international accreditation has indicated that the academic quality of the study program concerned is equivalent to international standards. Currently around 50 percent of the existing the undergraduate degree programs (S1) of IPB have received international accreditation and of course we hope further all IPB study programs will get their international accreditation. This is a manifestation of IPB commitment as its motto Searching for and Serving The Best, "said Head of Quality Management Office of Bogor Agricultural University, Dr. Fredinan Yulianda.
The Department of Agronomy and Horticulture (AGH), Plant Protection (PTN), Veterinary, Aquaculture (BDP), Water Resource Management (MSP), Aquatic Product Technology (THP), Animal Production and Technology (IPTP), Nutrition Science and Feed Technology (IPTP), Forest Resources Conservation and Ecotourism (KSHE) had successfully been accredited by ASEAN University Network (AUN-QA) since 2013. International accreditation is a strategic program and it is a serial of long-term activities of the Bogor Agricultural University (IPB) to encourage all courses to follow the international accrediting bodies. Dr. Fredinan said since 2008 IPB has prepared several courses to get international standardization from several international institutions. Each year IPB has increased number of its Departments to be accredited by international accreditation, this is because each year IPB propose for the accreditation for its study program to international accreditation institution. As stated by Dr. Fredinan, IPB proposes four study programs each year to the ASEAN University Network (AUN-QA) the accrediting body.
While the Department of Forest Products Technology gained its international accreditation from the international accrediting body, Institute of Wood Science and Technology (SWST), the Department of Food Science and Technology gained its international accreditation from the Institute of Food Technologist (IFT) in 2010, and International Union of Food Science and Technology (IUFoST) in 2013. The Department of Mechanical Engineering and Biosystem gained its international accreditation from Japanese Accreditation Board for Engineering Education (JABEE) in 2015, and Department of Agriculture Industry Technology from Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) in 2012.
In March 2016 the Postgraduate Program of Management and Business, School of Business of Bogor Agricultural University (SB-IPB) has officially received international accreditation. Thanks to the commitment and hard work of SB-IPB in maintaining and improving the quality of its higher education, the School has gained its international accreditation from the Alliance on Business Education and Scholarship for Tomorrow, 21st Century Organization (ABEST21) with Good Practice Award: Management Education in Agribusiness.
Dr Fredinan said that in May 2017, the Departments of Land Resource Management, Management, and Resource and Environmental Economics have added the total number of the Departments of IPB's to gain their international accreditation, as they have successfully complied all the requirements set by the international accrediting body, ASEAN University Network (AUN-QA).
