Dissemination of Innovation of IPB through Green TV
Thousands of the research results of the civitas of Bogor Agricultural University (IPB), hundreds of patents, and many other innovations which were beneficial for the community development were the great potentials that were priceless. The work of course would be very beneficial for all stakeholders when it was capable of disseminating widely in the community. Therefore, it took an intermediary to introduce it to the audiences, one of which was to build Green TV.
Green TV of IPB was a unit that was built to establish the communication between the stakeholders. Head of Green TV Unit, Dr. Anna Fatchiya, said that Green TV existed as the provider of the reference content in the agriculture, the management of the natural resources and the environment to uphold the dignity of the agricultural life and the sustainable new lifestyle.
Green TV of IPB facilitated the dissemination activities of the research results and the community empowerment from all units within IPB. The products of Green TV streamed live in the internet which could be accessed in www://greentv.ipb.ac.id. In addition to producing the audio visual materials, Green TV also facilitated the manufacture of the promotional materials, the documentation and the teaching materials such as the institutional and innovation profiles, the audio visual documentation of the scientific activities, the information packages of the research results and the community empowerment, as well as the learning video. All civitas of IPB could propose the ideas or the content ideas to be produced and distributed through the website of Green TV or through the program cooperation with the television station.
Dr. Anna explained to make it more accessible to the community, various cooperation efforts continued to be done by Green TV, both the cooperation with the national TV such as TVRI and the private television. “Looking ahead, Green TV will continue to improve the quality of the content besides the quantity of the impression product,” she said.
There were 4 programs produced by Green TV, namely Green Highlight, Green Fact, Info and Tips, and Bincang Bintang. Green Highlight displayed about the activities of the academicians of IPB and the community; Green Fact displayed the features about the scientific facts; Info and tips provided the practical and concise information about various things which needed to be known and easy to apply in everyday life; and Bincang Bintang was a talkshow by presenting the achievers.
Dr. Anna said, Green TV Unit also had a radio. “The name of the Green TV radio is Agri FM whose announcers are the students of the Student Activity Unit (UKM) of Agri FM, which can be accessed at the frequency of 107.7 FM,” she said.(SM/NM)
