IPB Students Declare as Zakat Young Generation
IPB Students Declare themselves as a Zakat Young generation. They are committed to the development of zakat and economic development in accordance with Islamic Shari'a among the young generation. This was launched to coincide with the Dies Natalis or 16th Anniversary of the Faculty of Economics and Management and Thanksgiving of the Department of Shari'ah Economics, IPB, at IPB International Convention Center, 16/5. The declaration proves the commitment of IPB students of the department of Islamic Economics to be ready to take part in developing an economy in accordance with Islamic Shari'a.
Students' role in developing sharia economy is positively responded by a national zakat distribution called Badan Amil Zakat Nasional (BAZNAS). BAZNAS representative, Nana Mintarti asked the students not to hesitate to become amil zakat or zakat worker. "BAZNAS is currently preparing a national qualification standard of amil zakat profession. Insya Allah (with God's willing) amil zakat will become an employment option. Be a professional and competent Amil zakat. The shariah economic graduates do not ncessarly work in banking, zakat profession is waiting for the role of the sharia economisc graduates. We are hoping for the thinkers with their roles for mankind," he said.
With respect to the Anniversary of FEM IPB and Thanksgiving of the Department of Sharia Economics, Prof. Dr. Ir. Yusman Syaukat, Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Management of IPB said, Faculty of Economics and Management, since its establishment in 2001 until now, has had 3200 undergraduate students, the second largest after the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences of IPB. "With the enactment of Shariah Economics study program to become the Department of Islamic Economic Sciences, then the development of sharia economy will have greater capacity and authority.
Rector of IPB, Prof. Dr. Herry Suhardiyanto, MSc said, the values and characteristics of sharia economy are a very important part in the development of science. The presence of Sharia Economics is expected to be able to overcome the economic problems that are very vulnerable to the crises: the high level of damage and a the higher disparity between rich and poor countries or between rich and poor people.
This is a challenge for the Bogor Agricultural University (IPB), which is known as an college of agriculture, in which the practice of syariah economy and financing is not new in agriculture becausea system of result sharing has been implemented in the community. Likewise, the terms zakat and wakaf are very popular with the peasant community in Indonesia. The sharia financial system based on profit sharing is in fact part of sharia economy and one alternative financing of better fairness in agriculture.
This challenge is of course addressed not only by the availability of human resources, but also by the development of Islamic economics itself. Therefore, IPB, by combining some basics and branches of Islamic economics into a division of science and technology has establishe the Department of Syariah Economics in the Faculty of Economics and Management of IPB, approved by the Academic Senate of IPB on 21 April 2017 .
Governor of West Java, Dr.Ahmad Heryawan supports the establishment of Sharia Economics into the Department. "This is proof of the role of state-owned campus in moving Indonesia forward in the future.
The important thing, according to him,is that the sharia economy comes from God's revelation. Sharia Economy in-sha Allah ( with God Willing) will successfully advance the nation's economy. "This is the concept of love to the country," he said. Further, he said, sharia economy regulates the economic distribution in the form of obligation and highly recommended deeds. On the other hand, capitalist economy does not addres economic distribution, bu leaves it to the individuals. Further, he added that the role model of sharia economy can uphold the rule of law, increase purchasing power, distribute the treasure of the baitul mal (Zakat Institution) appropriately, build infrastructure, transportation, agrarian reform and so on.
A similarl support was given by the Deputy of Economy of Bappenas RI, Leonard Tampubolon. He said, "For the last 25 years sharia banking industry has been growing rapidly, with 5 percent of market share, a big potential for the national development, and another support of the government to form a sharia finance committee, but the industry is not enough to develop with the syariah finance alone. Congratulation to IPB, Let's work together to develop the Sharia Economics industry in Indonesia."
Present in the event were the scholars of Sharia Economics of this country including Prof. Didin Hafidhuddin, Ustad Yusuf Mansur, Director of Bank Syariah Mandiri, Putu Rahwidhiyasa, President Director of Paytren, Hari Wibowo, General Manager of BNI Syariah Funding, Rima Dwi Permatasari. (Mtd)
