Universitas Islam Negeri (UIN) Delegates Visited IPB to Learn How to Implement Uang Kuliah Tunggal (UKT) System
The delegates of the Universitas Islam Negeri (UIN State Islamic University) of Syarif Hidayatullah, Jakarta, visited Institut Pertanian Bogor (IPB Bogor Agricultural University), on Wednesday, 12 April 2017. The delegates were consisted of the Administrative Bureau of Academic and Student Affairs; Head of Accounting and Financial Reporting; Head of Academic Unit; Head of Accounting and Financial Report BLU; Head of Section AIS and Simak (Sistem Informasi Akademik) BMN; Secretary SPI; and Head of the Section of Documentation and Publications.
The group was received by the Sekretaris Institut (SI Secretary of the Institute) of IPB, Dr. Ibnul Qayim in Andi Hakim Nasution Building, Dramaga Campus, Bogor. Also present in the meeting were the Head of Legal, Promotion and Public Relations Agency (HPH) of IPB, Ir. Yatri Indah Kusumastuti, M.Si; Head of Finance, Dr. Indah Yuliasih; Sub Head of Public Relations Bureau of HPH, Siti Nuryati, S.TP.M.Si; and Sub Head of Promotion Bureau of HPH, Dr. DVM. M. Fahrudin.
Head of Administrative Bureau of Academic and Student Affairs of UIN of Syarif Hidayatullah, Jakarta, Drs. Zaenal Arifin, M.Pd.I expressed his gratitude for the excellent reception by IPB. He stated that the objective of the visit to IPB is to have comparative study on Uang Kuliah Tunggal (UKT Single Tuition System) which will be applied at UIN Syarif Hidayatullah in 2017's.
"We are mandated by to UIN Rector settle the UKT issue and ‘ngaji’ (study) to IPB. We also want to learn IPB experiences in applying the UKT, "he said.
The Sekretaris Institut of IPB, Dr. Ibnul Qayim, explained that IPB and other state universities have been applying UKT, and the amounts vary between different faculties and state universities and will be based on individual students’ financial means. It was decided in such a way to make it more equitable. " UKT is charged and must be paid at every semester; by the date of Administration Registration before the forthcoming semester commences. The important thing the total amount of UKT to be paid by students are set by government rules, it has a legal basis for exercising that right, "he said.
UKT is sumbangan pembinaan pendidikan (SPP Academic fees), the fees to cover academic operations costs for student. For higher education, students of state universities are charged based on the single tuition fee system and pay a subsidized cost. The tuition fee will be adjusted according to the students, parents’, or caregiver’s economic condition. It is contributed by parents of students on education in IPB which is determined by considering the socio-economic conditions of the students concerned. The amount of UKT to be paid is fixed amount until the student will be graduated from university.
On this special occasion, the UIN delegates had intensive discussions with the Head of Finance of IPB to learn the experiences I applying the UKT system. (Wied)
