Good in English Language Debate Delivered Chiara to the Position of the Student Achievement

Chiara Nadya Tanudjaja, the student of the Faculty of Agricultural Technology (Fateta) achieved the second winner of the Student Achievement (Mapres) of Bogor Agricultural University (IPB) 2017. The theme of the paper that was carried by Chiara in contesting the position of Mapres IPB was “Pengembangan Potensi Rumput Laut Berbasis Koperasi sebagai Alternatif Solusi Pencapaian Kedaulatan Pangan / Development of Seaweed Potential Based on the Cooperative as the Alternative Solution of the Food Sovereignty Attainment”. Through this idea, Chiara hoped to be able to give the added value to the seaweed industry and the welfare of the seaweed farmers.

Since she was in SMA Regina Pacis Bogor, Chiara was deeply interested in the world of Agricultural Technology, so that she decided to enter Fateta IPB. She was accepted to enter IPB through the written test of the Joint Selection to Enter the State University (SBMPTN). No wonder, IPK which she was achieved during the study in IPB was almost perfect namely 3.99.

Her expertise in the English language made Chiara successfully to win in various events of the international language debate. Some of the achievements she had made, among others, to be the winner of Megaspirit English Debate Champion Competition in 2012; the representative of  Breaking Adjudicator Debate Competition; the representative of Indonesia Varsity English Debate; the delegation of Indonesia Model Nations in 2015; in 2016 becoming one of the semifinalist event of International United Nation in Geneva; and the semifinalist of IRON UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Debate Competition.

In addition to mastering the English language, Chiara also mastered the Mandarin language. Being the only child did not make Chiara spoiled. In fact, she dreamed of becoming the entrepreneur.

Her organizational experience could also be taken into account, since SMA Chiara was ever becoming the Chairman of Osis. Furthermore, while studying in IPB she was active in Keluarga Mahasiswa Katolik IPB / Catholic Student Family of IPB (KeMaKI); she was active in IPB Debating Community (IDC). Chiara ever represented IPB in several competitions of the national parliamentary debates such as Indonesian Varsities English Debate (IVED), Java Overland Varsities English Debate (JOVED), and ALSA UI E-Comp. She also ever represented IPB in several simulations of the meeting of PBB (Model United Nations), namely Indonesia MUN, Geneva International MUN, and Nanyang Technological University MUN.
