IPB Hosting Two-State Cooperation

In order to improve the function of the tropical system in the use of and lowland rain forest, the consortium partners CCR990 in Indonesia and the University of Goettingen of Germany held a KICK OFF WORKSHOP CRC 990/Ecological and Socioeconomic Function of Tropical Lowland Rainforest Transformation System (Efforts), 2nd Phase (Sumatra, Indonesia) at IPB International Convention Center (IICC) Bogor, (25/5). This is a collaboration of the two countries between Indonesia consortium partners (Bogor Agricultural University, Jambi University and the Tadulako University), LIPI, Director General of Forest Protection and Nature Conservation (PHKA) and the University of Goettingen, Germany, in conducting basic research and universities.
CRC 990 / Efforts of 2nd Phase is a continuation of the phase 1 study that has been conducted (2012-2015) and aims to build knowledge on ecological, socio-economic functions and their balance to protect and maintain these functions and to study the biodiversity of oil palm and lowland rain forest. The output of this research is the development of basic science and international publications.
IPB’s Vice Rector of Research and Cooperation, Prof. Dr. Anas Miftah Fauzi expressed support for this workshop, because in addition to being in line with IPB’s concern with agriculture, it can identify the relationship between agriculture and human life, techniques of developing natural resources and the resulted impacts.
Prof. Stefan Scheu of the University of Goettingen expresses thanks for the support of all parties and appreciates the involvement of Indonesian researchers in this study, as well as hopes this research will give benefit to human welfare.
On this occasion, present was Director of Research and Community Services, Ministry of Research and Technology and Higher Education, Prof. Dr. Karna Ocky Radjasa, who described the condition of the current research in Indonesia, which is still in need of improvement, compared with that of other countries. Afterwards, the participants of KICK OFF WORKSHOP CRC 990 / 2nd Phase Efforts hold a panel discussion led by Prof. Dr. Damayanti Buchori. A follow-up meeting was held in Jambi. (Mtd)
