IPB is the Host of Pimnas 2016

Vice Rector for Academic and Student Affairs, Bogor Agricultural University (IPB), Prof. Dr. Yonny Koesmaryono, said, IPB was ready to host National Student Science Week (Pimnas) in 2016. The 29th Pimnas would be held on the upcoming 7-12 August 2016 in Campus of IPB Darmaga and followed by 440 teams of Student Creativity Program (PKM) that were qualified for Pimnas from all over Indonesia.

“This is the second chance for IPB to become the host. Firstly IPB becomes the host, namely the 1st Pimnas in 1987. After several decades, the opportunity comes again,” said Prof. Yonny.

Pimnas was held every year with the hosts assigned the universities in Java Island and outside Java Island alternately. To become a participant of Pimnas, each team of students (consisting of 3-5 people) should compete with tens of thousands of other teams to get the funding activities and to produce the best work.

Currently, Pimnas was divided into several areas of PKM, namely the research, the entrepreneurship, the community service, the application of technology, and the scientific writing. Other than that, there were also PKM Artikel Ilmiah (Scientific Articles) and PKM Gagasan Tertulis (Written Idea). 

Beyond the 440 teams that qualified for Pimnas, IPB planned to invite 20 teams of PKM which were getting the funding but did not qualify to attend Pimnas, so that their motivation increased.

“IPB will highlight the creativity and the innovation of students by promoting the competition which is fair and square. From our analysis, some competitions make the family spirit missing. Well, this is what we want to build because the scientific culture is universal. To one another are mutually supportive to be considered scientifically,” he said.

To improve togetherness, it will be held the Subuh (dawn) prayer in congregation, the exercise together, the stage of creativity and art, the social gathering in dorm and the small gift exchange among participants.(zul)
