Prof. Muhamad Syukur of IPB is the Lecturer of the Year of Indonesia for 2014

Bogor Agricultural University (IPB) again proudly present the achievement made by one of its faculty members. At the Peninsula Hotel, Jakarta, on 28 October 2014, Prof.Dr.Ir. Muhamad Syukur was conferred as the Lecturer of the Year of Indonesia. After three days of quarantine, Prof. Syukur successfully defeated other 89 contesteants from various state and private universities in Indonesia.

Prior to be selected as Lecturer of the Year of Indonesia, Prof. Syukur,  one of the Professor of the Department of Agronomy and Horticulture, Faculty of Agriculture of IPB,  was selected to be the Outstanding Lecturer of  IPB. Then, he was nominated to be the Lecturer of the Year of Indonesia. In his presentation, Prof. Syukur highlighted Perakitan dan Pengembangngan Varietas Unggul Cabai dalam rangka Kemandirian Perbenihan Hortikultura Nasional (The Breeding of Chili Varieties for the  Development the National Horticultural Seedlings).

In the last seven years, Prof. Syukur had been consistently implementing his studies on  various chili varieties. According to him, his consistency was the main determinant factor for him to be selected as the Lecturer of the Year of Indonesia for 2014. "I managed to achieve this highest achievement due to the support of the institution, namely the University. When I've been selected to be the Outstanding Lecturer of IPB and was nominated for the  national level to the Directorate General of Higher Education), the Directorate of Human Resources of Bogor Agricultural University (Dir. HR IPB) has always provided morally and financially support for me. Therefore, in the future I will support and share my experiences with future IPB Outstanding Lecturer further in order to promote our institution, IPB, "he said. (Wied).
