National Tournament of Table Tennis Held in IPB Monday, September 29, 2014

National Tournament of Table Tennis called Bogor City Seventh Series was held in the Gymnasium of Bogor Agricultural University (IPB) for three days (26-28 / 9). The tournament was followed by 1163 participants consisting 13 categories, from beginners to the category of veterans and executives.
"The participants come from all over Indonesia; some are the students from 32 colleges. We hope with these activities, the IPB Student Activity Unit (UKM) for Table Tennis is increasingly making progress, can have more experience, and improve skills," said Indra, Chairman of the Committee, who was once Chairman of the IPB Student Activity Unit for Table Tennis.
One of the participants from Garut, Andre Kristian Gunaya, is a sixth grade students of the Elementary School SDN Sucikaler 2 of Garut. Andre belonging to BTP club of Tadikmalaya has won a number of table tennis tournaments both nationally and internationally.
"Andre was the first champion in the Open Tournament held by the Indonesian Police Chief, in the Indonesian Power at Beginner level, Dahlan Iskan Cup for South East Asia, and Tournaments of Yogyakarta Mayor. He is in the Team of Provincial Sports Week of West Java. In addition to IPB, he will participate in some tournaments next month," said his mother, who always accompanies him in every tournament.
Meanwhile, Representative of the Ministry of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Indonesia, Tunas Widarto in his speech advised that the participants should always keep sportsmanship and friendly during competition.
"Keep practicing and dream to become a champion. Maintain discipline. One key to achievement is always a good planning. My message, as an athlete, is do not ever want drug abuse or narcotics. Once you are involved, your future will be bleak," he said.
Inevitably, this tournament was also special because it coincided with the 51st anniversary celebration of IPB. IPB’s anniversary this year takes the theme ‘Mainstreaming Agriculture.’ Thus, it is expected that IPB’ s role will be even stronger in the fight for agriculture.
Present at the opening of the tournament were the Deputy Mayor of Bogor Ir. Usmar Hariman, Director of Student Affairs Dr.Ir. Rinekso Soekmadi, and Supervisor of IPB Student Activity Unit for Table Tennis Coach Dr. Ir. Irzaman. (Mtd)
