IPB is the Champion of Statistics Ria 2013
Bogor Agricultural University (IPB) succeeded to become the champion on the competition of Statistics Ria 2013 held by Department of Statistics, Faculty of Mathematics and IPA (FMIPA) – IPB, in Campus of IPB Dramaga, Bogor. Andi Hakim Nasoetion Trophy was back to the hands of IPB which beforehand had changed hands to Gadjah Mada University (UGM) in 2012. The statistic competition held every year was divided into three competitions i.e.: Essay Competition, National Statistics Competition, and Basic Statistics Competition (especially student of IPB). This activity was implemented on the dates of 21-22 September 2013.
On the competition, IPB reached the championships of 2, 3 , 4, 5 on the National Statistics Competition, while the first winner was reached by UGM. Meanwhile the category of Essay Competition, UGM succeeded in writing by reaching the 1 and 2 winners, while the 3 winner was reached by Sekolah Tinggi Ilmu Statistika (STIS). For the Basic Statistics Competition, the 1 and 2 winners were reached by Department of Mathematics of FMIPA IPB, while the 3 winner was reached by Department of Civil Engineering and Environment, Faculty of Agricultural Technology, IPB.
This 9th competition was followed by 19 participants coming from the state and private universities from throughout Indonesia. The universities were amongst all: Gadjah Mada University, University of Indonesia, University of Islam Bandung, Padjajaran University, University of Islam Indonesia, Pasundan University, University of Katolik Parahyangan, University of PGRI Adi Buana Surabaya, Riau University, North Sumatra University, Pancasila University, AIS Semarang, Sekolah Tinggi Ilmu Statistik, Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember, IPB, Bina Nusantara University, Diponegoro University, Airlangga University, and Institut Sains & Teknologi AKPRIND Yogyakarta
“I hope that the statistical science can help the Indonesian country toward more advanced in managing the good data,” said the Vice-Rector of Academic and Student Affaris of IPB, Prof.Dr.Ir Yonny Kusmaryono, M.Sc in his welcome speech. Besides the competition, the committee also held National Seminar, Book Review and Talk Show. (man)
