IDEA (IPB Dedication for Education) Presents Kick Andy
As a form of awareness over the national education, the Ministry of Education of the Student Executive Board – Student Family (BEM KM) IPB initiated the program of IDEA 2011: Dedication for Education. Some of IDEA 2011 activities include Bhakti Pendidikan (Educational Services, i.e. setting up libraries in SDN 2 Tugu, Galuga, Bogor), the selection of IPB Representative of Education, Contest of Essay Writing and Educational Photography on the theme "Educational Portrait of the Nation’s Children, and Kick Andy’s talk show "Lantern of Soul".
The Kick Andy talk show, which was held at Graha Widya Wisuda (GWW) IPB, 8 / 5, was very joyful. Thousands of IPB students and BEM representatives throughout Indonesia attended. Dozens of pupils from SDN 2 (a State Primary School) Tugu, Galuga, Bogor performed a theatrical play called “Lentera Jiwa” (Soul Lantern). In the darkness of the building, the lights of which were deliberately turned off, these elementary school pupils each lined up, lighting candles. The song “Ibu Pertiwi Bersedih” (Mother Earth Morning) floated serene accompanying the pupils’ performance.
Chairman of the BEM-KM IPB, Reza Pahlavi asserted that IDEA 2011 is one point to revive Indonesia’s education. Starting with a single point (one candle) it is expected to spread and ignite the spirit of the other components of the nation to take care of education in Indonesia. The motto of IPB students "One Vision, One Heart, Developing the Country" was shouted out by Reza and followed by all the students who filled up the GWW.
Vice Rector of IPB for Academic and Student Affairs, Prof. Dr. Ir. Yonny Koesmaryono, MS, who was present with Director of Student Affairs, Dr. Rimbawan expressed appreciation and support for the initiative of BEM KM IPB in such an educational care movement.
The students who were attending became more excited when Kick Andy presented creative young people with successful work because of their ever-lit life sprit. "The soul lantern is the passion that makes us happy to live," said Nugie, a famous singer who was invited as one of the speakers because Kick Andy sees Nugie as the figure who dared to struggle and maintain his soul lantern as a musician. Being a musician, he is also seen to have great attention to the environment. It is this that has made him appointed as an Environment Representative by the Ministry of Environment, the Republic of Indonesia.
Another creative figure is Imam Uthman, aged 19 years, who always keeps his life spirit alive. He takes the social entrepreneurship as his way of life. His concern for the progress of Indonesian youth is of no doubt. He has created various youth programs. He has also been exploring the various countries for his long-term vision empowering the youth of Indonesia. Various national and international awards have been granted to him.
Wahyu Aditya, the creative youth who founded Hellomotion, is indeed remarkably creative. His soul lantern has been to become a designer and cartoonist. Although his parents have set up "a doctor throne" for him, his soul lantern has led him to choose the profession as a designer. Wrapped with his great sense of humor, Aditya also designs “the Design Ministry of the Republic of Indonesia". Through his website, he presents a variety of his work that can be enjoyed and utilized by the public, one of which is as a campaign media to promote Indonesia abroad. (mtd)
