Early Warning System for Disaster over Weather Forecast

The first raindrops that contain a lot of high acidity are harmful to the environment and human health, we called it acid rains. Acid rain is also called acid deposition because this term includes other forms of acidic precipitation such as raindrops to cleanse the atmosphere, says Prof. Hidayat Pawitan, the Hydrology expert from the Department of Meteorology and Geophysics Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences Bogor Agricultural University as a resource person at RRI Afternoon Dialogue with the theme of "Beware of Extreme weather that causes floods, and landslides.”

Further, Prof. Hidayat stated that the effect of raindorps that contain  high acidity pose the greatest potential hazard all living things, such as respiratory tract in humans.

Moreover, Prof. Hidayat added that the soaring price of chilies due to crop failure, death of fish up to many tons in Maninjau Lake, West Sumatra, are examples of the impact of acid rain that proved harmful to fish and plant life.

With regard to the listeners from Katulampa, Bogor, who came to  him for consultion on the failure of their catfish farming  due to the acid rain, Prof. Hidayat suggested not use the firstdrops for their ponds. 

We were wanred to anticipate as early as possible, the community are suggested to rely on to the weather forecast released  by The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) as it is  the official institution that responsible on the monitoring of weather report.

In terms the type of equipment to  monitore the weather, Indonesia has sufficient enough, but the quantity is limited.

Finally, Prof. Hidayat stated that , the impact that violent and destructive natural disasters have had on Australia and the Australian people, might be expereinced by Indonesia, especially Indonesian drainage system is worse than Australia, therefor,  the Indonesian community should be responsive to anticipate this.
