Students of 18 Malaysian Universities visited IPB

Students from 18 Malaysian universities  visited Bogor Agricultural University, Wednesday, 7 December 2010, at Campus Darmaga. Those 18 universities were: Universiti Pahang, Universiti Sultan Indris, Universiti Putra Malaysia, Universiti Sains Malaysia,  Universiti Malaysia Trengganu, Nilai University College, Universiti Tenaga Malaysia, University Kebangsaan Malaysia, and Universiti Teknologgi Malaysia. Their visit were accompanied by the Chairman of the Student Development Office Ministry of Higher Pengajian Malaysia, Mr.  Haji Ibrahim bin Ali, Representative of  the Malaysian Embassy in Indonesia, Enchik  Azman bin Mahmud and Puan Nor Shahima.

Director of the Directorate of Student Affairs, Dr.Rimbawan, accompanied by the Director of the Directorate of Studies and Academic Development, Dr. Drajat Martianto, explained student activities at  IPB. "IPB has more than 140 student organizations, a lot of choices for students to take based on their interests. While sports and arts are courses for First Year Joint Preparation Students  (TPB), "said Dr. Rimbawan. Further, he explained that the scientific environment have been introduced as earlier as possible.  Each year the students are encouraged to join competition of Students Creativity Program (PKM) both at the university as well as the national level. "A proposal of PKM was usually prepared by by 3-5 students. Thus, a total about 900 students involved in the said competition," stated Dr. Rimbawan. Both he and Dr. Drajat responded all questions on student IPB activities raised by the Malaysian students. Once in a while, the Malaysian students who pursue their study  at IPB also testified about the academic life at IPB. (Wied).
