Student Executive Board of the Faculty of Economics and Management, Bogor Agricultural University (FEM IPB) collaborating with PT. Jamsostek (A Social Insurance Company) held a seminar on the Role of Social Insurance and Partnership and Community Development Program for Sustainable Agricultural Development, Wednesday (24/11) in the Auditorium Andi Hakim Nasution,  Darmaga Campus of IPB.

In his speech, Dean of the FEM IPB, Dr.Yusman Syaukat said the agricultural sector at the macro level holds the role in Indonesia’s development such as employment absorption, food producers and increased incomes. "But behind all these, there are many obstacles in their implementation, for example, the difficulty of getting input either in quality or quantity. This is where the State-Owned Enterprises can help facilitate farmers through the activities of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) in the form of partnership and community development," said Dr. Yusman. Currently, the state-owned companies have set aside about 2 percent of their profit to help with the needs of farmers for the access to capital. There are four activities of partnership and community development programs namely: loan assistance for working capital,  special funding programs for small businesses, assistantship programs and capacity building in production and marketing.

This event invited some speakers among others President of PT.Jamsostek Tbk, H. Hotbonar Sinaga, Chief Director of PT. Biolestari Group, Abdul Kohar Irwanto and Former Head of PK-BL Division of Pertamina, Indra Tuhirman. (mtd)
