Minister for Disadvantaged Regions Motivated Fresh Graduate Students of Bogor Agricultural University

As many as 800 (eight hundred) students who will be graduated  by   Bogor Agricultural University were invited to attend the public meeting that was held by the Directorate of Career Development and Alumni Relations (DPKHA) of the Bogor Agricultural University held at  Gd. Grha Widya Wisuda, Darmaga campus, 28 September 2010.

The special meeting with the theme "Reach the Future, Build your Country! The Challenging  career to develop  Agricultural Sector for the nation", was held in cooperation with the Minister for Disadvantaged Regions, PT. Astra Agro Lestari, Indonesian Palm Oil Association (GAPKI).

Vice Rector for Academic and Student Affairs of Bogor Agricultural University expected that the fresh graduates of the said University will  explore any possibilities, to be job creators (to generate jobs) rather than to be job seekers at the job markets, as the number of  unemployment rates of university graduates have reached 2 (two) million people.

Director of PT. Astra Agro Lestari, Mr. Joko Supriyono, in his presentation he expressed that Palm Oil Industry will be other alternative solution to reduce the intellectual unemployment.

In addition he stated that  “One company alone is capable to  manage 65 thousand ha palm oil fields. It means, it may employs 38 (thrity eight) thousand families, has built  and manages 23 (thrity three) elementary and junior high schools that has recruited  around 600 (six hundred) teachers, and educate 6 thousand students. It was the experience of the Citra Agro Lestari"

Furthermore, oil palm is also a zero waste products and produces many products, ranging from crude palm oil (CPO), biodiesel, cooking oil, cosmetics, fibers, paper materials, and its tree trunks will be utilized for furniture. The wastes of the palm industry will be recycled as fertilizer for the plantations , added Mr. Joko.

Referring to negative issues on the  oil palm plantations as the cause of  global warming, Mr. Teguh Patriawan, vice chairman of Chamber of Commerce for Plantation, explained that the land clearing process  for palm oil plantations have produced our carbon, but when replanting oil palm program executed, it will be re-produce oxygen .

Minister for Disadvantaged Regions (PDT), Mr. Ahmad Helmy Faisal Zaini in front of  prospective graduates of Bogor Agricultural University requested that those graduates should return to their  home regions, and should involve in the Regional development.  Even better, if they go to remote areas to participate to development that remore areas.
