The Orientation Program for 2010 Freshmen (MPKMB Laskar 47)

After attending a flag raising ceremony, a total of 3700 (three thousand and seven hundred) new students of Bogor Agricultural University attended  the Opening Ceremony of the  Orientation of Campus of Bogor Agricultural University for freshmen (MPKMB), on Tuesday,  17 August 2010, at the  Graha Widya Wisuda of Darmaga Campus, and  for the 2010 new arrivals they were named  Laskar Inspirasi MPKMB 47. 

President of the Student Executive Boards of  Student Association  (BEM-KM)  of Bogor Agricultural University, Ahmad Firman Wahyudi, said that the orientation is one of the  routine programs organized by the Student Executive Board of First Year Common Students (BEM TPB), which is mean to familiarize the  campus for them.  "Participants are expected to gain current inspiration from the campus, and will contribute to the development of the campus  in the future. Hopefully the method of Bogor Agricultural University in implenting its student orientation program (MPKMB) will be exemplified by other universities in executing their orientation programs. That  orientation program was  not the initation program, but it was an official forum for new comers  for audiences with other new students, their seniors, and their prospective lecturers." stated Ahmad. Further in his remarks,  Ahmad explained various problems encountered  by Indonesia such as unfininshed corruption combat, pornographies, the explosion of “3-kilogram of  gas”, the increase of  Basic Electricity Tariff (TDL), rising daily necesities prices and so forth. "We will be able  to  contribute its  solutions for the community of this problems. Hopefully one of these new students will become the awaited hero who will lead the nation to encounter those  problems. A hero is not only born in the period of mediocrity, but in hard times, "he said.

At this special occassion, Rector of Bogor Agricultural University, Prof. Herry Suhardiyanto congratulated the new students as they have been admitted to the undergraduate program of one of the most demanded  universities in Indonesia. "Agriculture is very important to alleviate poverty, reduce unemployment and maintain the national food security. Students who have been admitted this year, must have defeated  many prospective students  to this University. You are well-selected students, therefore,  you should be thankful  to God, and keep on study toward that goal," stated Rector.
According to the Rector,  for Indonesia with more than 200 million population, the agriculture is really required. "Let’s try to imagine if our farmers fail to produce the agricultural products, what shall we do. Let’s we  develop our  campus based on  the existing challenges. Take  the  opportunity  while you are studying at Bogor Agricultural University  to learn  and develop agricultural for the  benefit of Indonesia, "said Rector.  Further, he suggest that new students should know their respective  lecturers. Bogor Agricultural University  may proud to say that the number of  lecturer with doctorate degree holders is the highest among the universities in Indonesia and they are very competent in teaching. Moreover, "a  number of lecturers of Bogor Agricultural University have successfuly made national  achievements, including the highest rank in the number of  prospective works for  business, according to  the Bussines Inovation Center  in 2008, 2009 and 2010.  For the year 2010,  50 (fifty) out of  the 103 (one hundred three)  most prospective works were from the  lecturers of Bogor Agricultural University. Similar to their lecturers,  students and alumnus as well have also made such national achievements,” stated  Rector. (Wied)
