Other Four Departments of IPB Will be Granted International Accreditation by “AUN-QA”

Bogor Agricultural University (IPB) has increased its program studi (Prodi = courses), and this program was part of the  assessment process which will be performed by the International Accreditation team of ASEAN University Network-Quality Assurance (AUN-QA), which starts on Wednesday, 14 January 2015. The accreditation proposals were submitted by the Department of Community Nutrition of the Faculty of Human Ecology (FEMA), Department of Silviculture of the Faculty of Forestry (Forestry Faculty), and Department of Economics and Agribusiness of the Faculty of Economics and Management (FEM). The visit of the Accreditation Team of AUN-QA was officially received in the meeting room of Andi Hakim Nasution Building, Dramaga Campus, Bogor.
 
In his welcome remarks, Rector of IPB, Prof. Dr Herry Suhardiyanto stated, "IPB is committed to improve the quality of education. The process of accreditation assessment by the AUN-QA aims to improve the quality of education in IPB, thus IPB will be recognized nationally, and at regional and international level as well. As we understand that AUN-QA assessment system utilizes standard Quality Assurance methods ".
 
Executive Director of AUN, Dr. Nantana Gajaseni, said that AUN-QA provides opportunities for higher educations of 10 ASEAN member countries to cooperate on improving the quality of education. IPB together with other Indonesian’ universities, namely ITB, UI, UGM, and Airlangga University are  members of AUN. As leading universities in Indonesia, they are eligible to increase the quality standards of education into the international level. "On this occasion we brought eight assessors of AUN-QA who are from the Philippines, Thailand, Malaysia, and Singapore to assess the four newly installed courses offered by  IPB," he explained.
 
Head of the Kepala Kantor Manajemen Mutu (KMM – Quality Management Office) of IPB, Dr. Fredinan Yulianda, expressed his expectations that in the future IPB should offer  international standards courses to improve the quality of education at the University. The assessment by AUN-QA of the implementation of quality assurance of the education-based on four courses offered by IPB is one of steps taken by IPB to gain its international recognition, especially the equality with other universities in other ASEAN member countries.
 
The assessment process will be held from 14 – 16 January 2015 to ensure the compliance of AUN-QA standards for the implementation of education process, management systems, human resources, infrastructure and facilities to support those courses. Hopefully the process will run as well as possible, and finally those 4 (four) Departments will be granted  AUN-QA Education Standard", said Fredinan.
 
Dr. Fredinan added, previously IPB had been assessed by AUN-QA namely oin 2013 and 2014, during which 6 (six) Departments  had been granted AUN-QA certification. The Six Departments are Agronomy and Horticulture,  Plant Protection, Aquaculture, Science and Technology of Livestock Production, Nutrition and Food Technology, and Science of Communication and Community Development.
